A look at a few trainer angles of interest, for the last five festivals going back to 2019. As always with such an approach, the numbers are small and could be unreliable, but trainers tend to be creatures of habit and hopefully they may help point to some horses worth further exploration… as always, analysing recent trainer form can also help…
First up, the five trainers who’ve had 4 or more winners in the period…
*
Aidan O’Brien
The winning most trainer in the period, 6/41, 13p, -6.75 SP all runners. In fact, of his 20 winners since 2008, only three (3/91, 15p) have been sent off bigger than 7/1 SP. At the last five meetings, those sent off 7/1 or shorter SP…
- All runners
- 7/1 or shorter SP
- 2019>
20 bets / 6 wins / 10 places (inc wins) / 30% sr / +14 SP / +19 BFSP
Within the stats/angle above…
- When 3 or more runners in the race: 5/11,7p +24 BFSP
- 3YOs: 5/14, 8p +21 BFSP
- Those that ran at Chester LTO: 0/5,2p
- Those that had 2 runs this season only already: 0/6, 1p

John Gosden
The second most winning trainer in the period, 5/19,7p, +11 BFSP all runners, for all 0/4, 0p last year.

- Drawn in stalls 1-4: 4/9, 4p, +17 BFSP
- Colts & Fillies: 5/15, 7p +15 BFSP
- All winners Top 3 LTO: 5/14, 7p +16 BFSP
- Ran at Newmarket Rowley LTO: 0/4,0p

George Boughey
The new kid on the block, this looks to be a meeting he has started to target with the right horse, 4/13, 8p +48 BFSP all runners since 2021, the year he had his first runner here.
Drilling down doesn’t help too much, small samples of course, but for now I think a case of keeping an eye on all his runners, which has included a 30 BFSP winner.

David O’Meara
Next in line with ‘most winners in the period’ is David O’Meara, 4/33, 9p +7 BFSP all runners. All of these winners have been in handicaps and to date, over 6 & 7 furlongs…
- Handicaps
- Distance: 6 or 7 furlongs
14 bets / 4 wins / 8 places (inc wins) / 29% sr / +19 SP / +26 BFSP

- All winners sent off 9/1 or shorter SP: 4/7, 6p, +33 BFSP (bigger: 0/7,2p, does include a couple of big priced placed horses)
