For this year’s Ebor Festival I’ve focussed my stats research on ‘jockeys’ – both trainer/jockey combos, and a couple of ‘jockey only’ angles. There are x6 ‘micro angles’ and a further x3 combos ‘to note’. I’ve posted the Day 1 ‘qualifiers’ for all angles down at the bottom of the page.
I will just mention ‘trainers’ however… four trainers have 10 or more winners in the period and they could be worth using as a ‘way in’… John Gosden (18), Charlie Appleby (13), William Haggas (13), Andrew Balding (10)... you’d be rather poor if backing them all of course, so you have to be picky!
Onto Jockeys… in general it could be noted there are x6 jockeys who’ve ridden at least x10 winners in the period… Frankie Dettori (19), Jim Crowley (15), William Buick (13), James Doyle (12), Oisin Murphy (11) and Danny Tudhope (11). It could pay to focus on those six, and they’re all mentioned on this page somewhere , x5 of them ‘micro angles’ below. You can’t just back all of their rides blind of course, but again, a useful ‘way in’. Of course you could just focus on any ‘qualifiers’ from the angles that follow…
