YORK DAY 1: Stats Pointers

York Day 1 pointers

The following would normally be listed in the Section 5 of the Daily Members Posts (all still free to air) but those posts will be far too busy given the following and it may be hard to know where to look. Well, it may be anyway!

Any of my tips will live in their usual place. As always remember to ‘refresh’ your browser when in a post or on the ‘home’ page, to see any new additions etc, inc reader’s comments.

You can use the following in any way you choose but hopefully a useful ‘way in’. I’ve added the HorseRaceBase ratings pointers for information purposes, just for the handicaps… as we know, the Top 4 rated (H1/H2/H3/H4) win around 62% of all handicaps. Obviously this week has larger fields than the average and it’s competitive stuff – so while you could use to help shortlist, i’d only use as a guide. However, I have just looked at The Ebor Festival and the ratings, in handicaps… of the last 164 handicaps (all, inc nurseries) 68 have been won by the top 4, so around 41%.

To business…

My Shortlists (inc trainer pointers)

If I just focus on the Top 9 in the weights and those aged 4-6 that leaves 9/11 (9/74 runners, 25p, +56 BFSP) ..and that leaves 7…we shall see if they include the winner…

Jawwaal H1/ Lahore/ Majic J / Justanotherbottle / Copper Knight / Soldiers Minute / Leodis Dream

Trainers (to have won race with runners)

  • Jawwaal H1
  • Justanotherbottle
  • Copper Knight / Hyperfocus
  • Tarboosh

If I use the x3 10/11 pointers above, that leaves 8/11, (8/46, 17p, +64 BFSP) and may point to the following 6…

Monsieur Lambrays H2/ True Destiny / Volcanic Sky/ Rochester House H3 / Rajinsky H1 / Blue Laureate

Trainers (to have won race with runners)

  • Make My Day / Here And Now
  • Rochester House H4 / Summer Moon
  • Just In Time
  • Eddystone Rock (last years winner)

That’s all for this post, to muse over as you please. With any luck it may help you land on a winner or two. Obviously you’re free to absorb the York Stats report and decide how to play them.

  1. An 11/2 place and a loser on Tuesday.

    Three for York on Wednesday:

2.45, Mogul – seems to be fit enough now to do himself justice, can outclass these. 2 points win.

3.45, Indianapolis – up in distance here which should suit, Atzeni in the saddle, can make his run from off the pace. 1 point each way.

4.50, Perotto – highly rated by his trainer, still improving, up to classes here. 1 point each way.

    Good luck Martin
