1.Tips
None today. I’ve had a flick through the Newc Sires quals below, hopefully one or two winners there but just too much educated guesswork required for serious punting imo, esp given some of the prices / race types. Stone Mason hasn’t been missed – he could be an 80s horse in the making given his form and development since last season. I suspect he’s just taken time. But I don’t know if he’s a1 and the track is an unknown. I’d want a bigger price- for me I sort of hope he blows up 1f out/hates the surface, and may be a bigger price NTO. But he could sluice up, as could any of the others given their unexposed profile. Zoran is interesting at the prices and should enjoy this trip/stamina test, given how he’s run to date. Palmer does well at the track, in non-hncps (1/2,2p in maidens here last 730 days) and with horses returning after a break. His last race has yet to work out that well but his experience may count for plenty. He will of course get a mark after this run though, and maybe hncps are the aim. The market suggests there are two well fancied ones to beat, so we shall see. Those other Newmarket trainers represented do well in maidens here also (messrs Gosden, Varian and Crisford) but I suspect we could see a career best run today from Zoran, and that could be enough. It will be interesting to see if his price keeps shortening.
Anyway, racing returns, and if you’re getting seriously involved, good luck! I’ll have eyes on those below to note anything for the future, some beer money on Zoran EW for interest, and an eye on runners from my 15 ‘Trainer Profiles’ trainers, for any hints and clues moving forwards.
2.Monthly Trainers
None, they’ll return in September.
3.Trainer Profiles 2020: The Flat
None, no turf racing.
4.Other Micro Angles
Newcastle Sires (20/1< SP)
(1/4,1p, +2.5)
1.00 N – Stone Mason 11/8 UP (a bit disappointing, and jockey didn’t use fitness as an excuse post race- maybe he does have a niggle, but a question now, as not first time he’s travelled strongly and found little for pressure)
1.00 N – Heavenly Tale 9/2 UP
3.55 N – Oakenshield 5/1 WON 5/1
6.15 N – Zoran H3 14/1 UP 8/1 (faded into 4th, having been fresh enough, in the right spot. Decent run and right horses beat him, has races in him soon on that evidence I think)
5.Horses to Follow
Hot Form
1.00 N – Stone Mason (1st run) 11/8 UP
6.Other/Updates
You can read the ‘My Plan’ Post HERE>>> (which gives info on all the above/content plans moving forwards)
And also now a video intro…

Newcastle… my twitter community, and those who do plenty of AW punting, tell me that when it’s hot, Newcastle, (like all AW tracks) becomes very slow/testing, as the wax melts , opening up the surface (any rain makes it quicker etc). And that when it is slow, it can sometimes pay to be closer to the pace, as it’s much harder to come from further back. Whether that rings true, we shall see! Of course that would also indicate they’re ‘summer’ and ‘winter’ Newcastle form, and one horse could relish one, but hate the other.

lgb 🙂
Greetings GBster, Leif and other old virtual chums, it’s been a long time
I too like Heavenly Tale in the First but what’s the odds on the first winner back being a coincidence bet in the shape of Curfewed?!
Also like Good Tidings in the 5.05 – but obvs not a day for proper punting. Mrs MC and I celebrate our 35th Wedding anniversary today so will not have time for proper study as would get the thick end of the rolling pin
Good luck to all it’s fantastic to be back.
your quality sandy input is always worth waiting for my friend 🙂 glt and heap load of felicitations for today and your anniversary ..treat mrs mc well ..or even to a winner 🙂

Thanks george and mark good to hear from you both. I’m hoping lockdown was the refresh I needed but time will tell! Glad to have George’s kitchen back cooking out some winners with any luck! Hopefully you’ll be serving them up too Mark!
Thanks for your thoughts in your video, look foward to more as racing progresses and gives more stats for picking purposes. Just a few small bets today, more of a watching brief. The usual following of B Curtis, O Murphy and L Morris. Good luck, let the enjoyment begin!
blimey looks Roger Fell has not let up in the break .. 1st 2nd and 4th i think in da 1st 🙂 ??
And the first winner from Josh’s Sires shortlist, nice one!
RTP!!! Martin on fire and one of Josh’s Newcastle Sires goes in too!!
Happy day 🙂
…and now Colin’s at it too!!!!
Well done Josh, Nice start for newcastle sires
Well done Colin nice one in ONTHE BRIDLE, can you refresh my memory is ONTHE BRIDLE a new name for ARUBA or one of you other like TipTop. Long time ago since we played. Gordon
Hi Gordon
ON THE BRIDE is the same method as Aruba, but after 1 month in December realized that i had got the starting rules wrong, after 25 years of laying dormant wonder why, and quickly sorted them out for January, to market and sell it when successful could not continue with the Aruba name people have long memories.
Jan + 37.5 level stakes win only
Feb – 0.5
Mar + 31.5 last bet 13 March
Have to be honest Gordon do not know how long i will be able to put them up for said before cannot back with bookmakers so i have gone down the advisery route for i need an income.
Tip Top is already being used as an advisery service so this will not surface again.
Still reviewing some more old methods, one is called Victory which i started putting up on RTP on 14 Feb and the last bet was on 14 March and in that time is + 36.66 to level stakes win only.
Colin
Excellent work from the Leafemeister, back with a bang, many thanks.
A big hello and a huge WELL DONE to Josh and his merry band of tipsters. Well done guys on the first day back and thankyou all for taking the time and trouble to post your tips.
Best wishes, Tom.
