Thanks for your ongoing membership/support, especially as 2019 has been mediocre, and that’s probably an understatement. While I cling to the approx +460 odd points profit on here in 3m+ chases / Festivals since start of 2014, 2019 has been the most testing year on here, for a variety of reasons I’ll be working hard to ensure 2020 is much better in terms of my performance/tipping etc. It needs to be. There’s much more to enjoy/read/absorb on here than just my performance in Section 1 of course but in reality that’s where the ultimate judgement is made and 2019 hasn’t been good enough. A big four months ahead. Still, there’s always lots to look forward to in this game and it isn’t meant to be easy.

A special thanks to those of you who post comments / “tips”/ questions/ thoughts – more of that is always welcome but the comments section is what makes this place feel like a community of recreational racing fans and makes us unique I think. This game is more fun when you’re enjoying it with others, even in an online world!

A Happy New Year to you and your families, may 2020 bring you/us all lots of happiness (and profit!)

With that said, a question for you…

Is there any horse in particular you’re looking forward to seeing in 2020?  (can be flat or jumps… maybe a horse you’ve pencilled in for a big race/Festival?)

  1. Hi Josh. 2019 has been a difficult year. However RTP is my first call in the morning.
    I wish you and all your members a very happy new year. 2020. Bring it on.

    A poor Dec but still in profit overall since recording.

    Dec 42 bets 3 wins -11.38 ROI -28.45%
    Nov/Dec Total 77bets 6 wins +26.33 ROI 34.19%

    1 runner for Wed.

    12.10 S Momtalik…D Shaw Dist…25/1

    A happy New year to all members.

  3. 2019 end of year results:
    start bank £1,200
    end bank £2,516-37 ( this is net as all subscriptions are paid from withdrawals from betting accounts)
    so i managed to eek out a profit this year probably more from luck than judgement and a couple of services i subscribe to that have shown small but welcome profit. I’ve withdrawn 316-37 and will treat myself to something which leaves a starting bank for 2020 of £2,200. let’s hope for a happy and profitable new year.

  4. Morning and happy new year,
    12:50 Cheltenham
    SINGLEFARMPAYMENT 1pt win 9/2 gen
    14:00 Cheltenham
    MAGIC SAINT 1pt win 15/2 gen
    14:35 Cheltenham
    MIGHT BITE 1pt win 8/1 gen
    KILBRICHEN STORM 1pt win 8/1 gen

    Hope all horses and jockeys come back safe and sound and good luck with whatever you select today and throughout the new year. May be an Irish race to follow…..

    1. 15:15 Fairyhouse
      IT’S ONLY A NUMBER 14/1 gen 1pt win
      SIR BOB 14/1 gen 1pt win
      I thought the front 4 in the market looked cramped up, so have taken 2 of JP’s 3 against the field, this is an open race and out of the longer priced ones, these two stood out. Sir Bob, unexposed really and blinkers thrown on here to hopefully liven him up, plus Mark Walsh booked. ItsOAN, may finish out the back of the TV, but, if on song, with such a low weight…. We shall see…

  5. Josh

    The horse I’m looking forward to is Presenting Percy. I have a sneaking feeling that he is a potential Gold Cup winner – but I would only bet on him NRNB.

    1. In an open year so far he is clearly a potential winner with the right ground. It dries out quick at Cheltenham but can get soft with plenty of rain. Any ante post bet would be a leap of faith re the ground on the Friday. Unless the odds were big for a horse when you can take a chance.
      Ante post betting is hard work. My figures have Percy at 12/1 for the race on decent ground and turning up. I see that there is a bit of 14/1 about but not NRNB. So no bet at present for me.

  6. I see that Hendo is mixing it up at Cheltenham today. OK Corral back in distance in the 2.00; Might Bite over hurdles in the 2.35. Just trying something different and so do not think they are viable bets. Looks a tough meeting to find winners to me.
    Through the card:

    12.15 Imperial Alcazar;
    12.50 Another Venture;
    1.25 Champ;
    2.00 Mister Whitaker;
    2.35 Beware The Bear;
    3.10 Roksana;
    3.50 Belle De Manech.

    Nap of the day is 1.40 Musselburgh, Copper West, 1 point each way at 11/1 Bet365 and others, 4 places available.

    Happy new year.

    1.20 Southwell Moonraker 15/8
    2.45 Catterick Paddling 2/1

    12.35 Fakenham Silent Steps 6/1
    1.40 Musselburgh Nuts Well 10/1
    1.50 Exeter Pink Legend 3/1
    3.20 Southwell Mamoo 9/2
    December + 9.625
    November + 5.625
    October + 9.77
    Three winning months out of three since putting them up, again a 20 plus year method which appears to still be working and it only costs the price of a newspaper!

    1. Wow,tip-top flying today.unfortunately I only bet your other two systems as I thought tip-top was due a dodgy run after 3 winning months on the trot.!

      1. Hi Gerald
        Sods law about backing horses, i certainly have done that!

        Feel that now the ground is slowly drying out and hopefuly the heavy going will be gone for a few weeks then Tip Top should prove much better on decent ground for the bets are on horses towards the top of the weights.
        The performance over 3 months is very good in very poor ground conditions and it is filling me with confidence when the method is over 20 years old.

  8. Happy New Year everyone.
    I’m looking forward to seeing the half an ear share my wife bought me in a now unnamed 2yo with Mick Easterby run,
    Would be handy if I know what his name was. I’ll keep you informed.
    Good luck today everyone.

  9. FAVOURED new method which as the same starting point as the successful Elite, but then different rules so they are different bets, over the past week 5 winners from 11 bets for a level stake profit of 7 points.
    2.25 Exeter Western Climate 11/2
    2.30 Southwell Break The Silence 7/2
    Happy New Year to everyone and keep trying to beat the bookies.

  10. Happy New Year to everyone on this excellent site, and a big thankyou to all of you who take the time and trouble to post your tips and thoughts. Keep up the great work, thankyou!!

  11. A very happy 2020 to you Josh and all members. This site remains absolutely absorbing and fascinating especially to someone obsessed with racing stats and trends. Have a great day and always remember a 4/1 winner pays the same at Fakenham as it does at Cheltenham !
