Micro Monday: 30/12/19

Another ‘January Trainer’

A trainer to follow in January?

In the last Micro Monday post I looked at Sue Smith’s runners in Jan/Feb, and if you missed that you can read my report HERE>>>

I thought i’d look to see if I could find another just for the month of Jan and it looks like Lucinda Russell’s handicappers may be worth keeping onside >>>

Micro Angle

  • Lucinda Russell
  • January
  • Handicap Chase / Handicap Hurdle (standard/not novice hncps)
  • Class 4 or 5
  • NOT AYR
  • Any odds (14/1< best)
  • 2015 > (last 5 years)

74 bets / 16 wins / 24p / 22% sr / +68 SP / +82 BFSP / AE 1.78

  • those sent off 16/1 or bigger are 1/17, 4p, +18 BFSP
  • Ayr – Russell’s Ayr handicappers in the month of Jan, with the rules above, are 2/38, 9p, -26 BFSP . This could be a track that she just runs her very moderate/out of form/exposed horses at, or for whatever reason plenty of her horses don’t like the track. Something to watch but the stats are bad enough to suggest there could be some logic behind this poor performance.

Hopefully her horses are about to burst into life, having had a quiet enough time of it in recent weeks. In the last 14 days she’s 1/10,3p so fingers crossed she’s about to add to those stats above.

As with Smith’s handicappers, i’ll post any qualifiers from above within ‘The Test Zone’ (section 3 of the daily members’ posts)

    1. Thanks Dave –

the 10lb claimer is interesting – not sure if she’s using any at the moment, those 5/8 wins in rules above under A Thorne and T Wilmott who’ve long lost the 10 – be interesting if anyone is introduced this month – but something to keep an eye on.

Males/females – yep 0/8,0p with mares but only had 4 mares run under rules above since start of 2017, but something to keep an eye on. Maybe she’s just better with the males! 🙂
