  1. Afternoon,

Could you move the selections over please Josh.

    12:30 NAVAN
    BARWELL 1pt win 10/1 365 / 9/1 gen
DOLCIANO DICI 1pt win 14/1 gen

    14:35 NAVAN
    FLEMENSTORM 1pt win 11/1 gen
    RED JACK 1pt win 14/1 365 / 12/1 gen

    write ups to follow tomorrow.

    1. Thought these races looked interesting enough to have a play at the prices,

      BARWELL
Barry Connell the owner is running two here which i thought was odd as most of the owners in Ireland apart from the top one / two don`t normally try this unless they are after the big pot. Back to the horse, he had a really pleasing debut at Wexford, back in 2018 and then was off for quite a while after suffering a cut on his foot, he beat the rest of the field by 10 lengths that day and looked a really good prospect. Has a nice weight here and the 10/1 on offer is value.
      DOLCIANO DICI
Now you may think I have gone mad with this one and this could be a out the back of the tv horse, but, this is one of those didn`t really work over fences Mullins horse, transferred back to hurdles and with Danny Mullins on board, this one could quietly sneak into this and play hand late just behind the front rank as they turn in.Value Mullins second string…
      FLEMENSTORM
Now, as Josh says backing an 11 year old is risky, but, the heavy ground, course form and the fact that Flemenstorm has the course form counts for a lot, as Navan is quirky.I know the win was a dead heat and he does have his problems getting his head in front, but, thought it was significant that JJ Slevin has been brought in to steer him round, he will nurse him round and i wouldn`t put anyone off each way. Value at the odds.
      RED JACK
I thought the favourite / s were weak at Navan today and these two races were the ones to focus on, no more so in this race and this “second” string McManus horse is definitely a one to be on. I have the oldest and youngest legs in the race , but, out of the two, this one is my “banker”, this is his first Handicap, he has had problems, Slippers Madden has been put back up on board and if he reproduces the form shown when beating DINONS, albeit in a NHF race, he could and should take this from his older rivals.Cracking value i thought at 14/1 general.

Hope a few of you followed me in yesterday with the TTC at Cheltenham, didn`t do too bad, 3 winners and a 14/1 to boot?? Only shrapnel thrown at it, but, paid for a couple of presents for Crimbo!

      1. Both races crumbled pretty quickly out there, in heavy ground that was to be expected, called the beating of the favourites, but, little else..

  2. COLINS BETS
    TIP TOP
    ARUBA

No bets today, yet another disgraceful days racing, small fields on heavy going, surprised the bookmakers have not been crying out for their turnover must be way down in December!
    Colin.

  3. Apart from a few independent on course bookies the industry as a whole couldn’t give a toss abut real horse racing when you can push events where you already know the outcome.Every shop screen is full of virtual games, bingo, the real events where you can have some influence tucked away in a cubbie hole, very little chat, punters in a zombie like state, money collected from the dole office, gone in thirty seconds. They never had it so good

  4. I think this is where we as a collective on here come in, we have the knowledge to steer people into looking at things differently, each of us, is doing our bit to help people. Suppose it is the old adage of you can lead a horse to water etc…

    1. I occasionally go into Corals as they have closed my online account, but are happy to take cash! But it is very occasionally as all my other bets are placed online.
      Phil

    2. I live in a small town on the east coast with a population of 5000 people doubles in summer, only bookies shop was WH, they have just closed it “ wife says it’s because I do all mine on line, and takings down because of it “ cheeky mare

  5. Haven’t been in a bookies for at least ten years. Our local Coral (Fishguard) closed months ago, nearest now 15 miles away. Always seemed quite depressing places.

  6. Seems no one uses them now. I walked past a william hills on a saturday afternoon and the only person in there was a guy on a fobt.
Can’t see them existing much longer if the fobt aren’t bringing in the big bucks. Shame as whilst places like this are great I still miss a bit of human interaction.
