#1 – 2.05 Ludlow – TEA TIME ON MARS – 1 point win – 7/1 (WH/BetfS/PP/Unib) 13/2 (SB) Abandoned

#2 – 3.00 Hayd- SPEAK OF THE DEVIL – 1 point win – 5/1 (UniB) 9/2 (gen) UR second fence, which is always frustrating, almost like he didn’t see the fence (walked through it) having pinged the first. Ironically the 4 dolled off fences were a neg for him on paper, as was the drying ground – not that soft.  His time will come and that may be a blessing, fav had a going day and may have been tough to beat anyway, did do it easily and had the back class for it, well supported. Return of the TT has helped.

as of 08.34, and 09.28,  that’s all for today, write up at bottom of post

Tips write ups…

2.05 – Tea Time On Mars… well that’s bloody infuriating… they said ‘racing goes ahead’ on BHA site at 7am – while also saying an inspection at 9am just to make sure, as needed a +1/2 rise in temp but were confident – alas they’ve freezing fog, no rise, a waste of an hour. Anyway add this one to your trackers as he’s decimating 108 at some point soon over fences/3m+ .

3.00 Haydock..

Speak of The Devil…

I thought 9/2 looked fair in this line up especially given the questions for many others. He’s a point winner having his second chase start and he ran well LTO on chase debut – it was very good run ‘on the figures’ and the 118 RPR was decent, esp compared to his mar k of 110. He shapes like a dour stayer so should enjoy this step up in trip. He raced prominently there and jumped with ease in the main. There should be more to come.

His chance is improved to my eyes due to the opposition – the likes of Henry’s Joy and Never Up have a real stamina question over this trip – too much of one for me to take their odds.  Diggin Deep has fitness to prove, chasing questions, and going questions. He’s also usually ridden cold, so not for me either.

That leaves three of them… well I liked Garrane LTO and he ran appallingly – a bit too poor. In any case the questions are now mounting, esp at 11/2, and he doesn’t look as if 121 underestimates him. He’s now 0/7 chasing but with some ok placed efforts. He needs more and at his price I could leave him, but he should fall in at some point with a repeat of one of his more consistent efforts, but he does keep bumping into one or two

The Ogle Gogle Man is interesting but he isn’t exactly unexposed, (but is only 7 so could be more this year), is 0/7 under Harry B, can be ridden patiently, can clout a fence or two, and the strength of his form doesn’t look that great. However, if mine doesn’t run as I hope, it does have an open feel about it and a repeat of his good efforts could be good enough – conditions are fine and he stays. He should also come on for his run LTO. I can see the case but he is open to attack from something better handicapped. 5s or so was ok, but I preferred mine.

Jonjo’s does have a touch of class but at 7/2 the questions are mounting – he has breathing issues and the TT returns here after a woeful effort LTO. Maybe he will take a big step forward here, but he needs to. He’s now x3 PUs in his last 6 runs, which makes 7/2 seem short to my eyes and I want to take him on. If he built on that Wincanton effort though (and he may prefer this softer ground) he’d go close.

Hopefully Speak of The Devil gets an aggressive ride here, can stretch them and just keep rolling.

  2. A couple of selections today both at Ludlow.
1-30. Hijran 11-1 b365, 1/2 pt ew. well beaten lto but that was in a C1 against Lady Buttons and this is much easier , previous c&d winner 4/12 over hurdles going shouldn’t be a concern.
2-05. Another Venture 11-2 1/2 pt ew. jumps well and distance/going look optimum, lack of a recent run a concern but thought he was a bit ahead of the rest.

a couple of others at big prices that iv’e had very small ew’s on.
    Lud 3-10. Galactic Power 33-1 +
    Hay 12-50.Samson’s Reach 25-1

  3. Got to go out this morning so just posting to say that first race for me is likely to be 12.50 so will post first bulletin for the day at 12.30. Off to a good start with 2 from 7 yesterday, Was almost 3 from 7 when Battle Of Marathon just got overhauled by the fav’ in the final 1/2 furlong. Anyways it’s 2 from 9 for +14.0 to date.

    1. Was counting on Ludlow too today, but Haydock still has chances so it could be worse. Today’s are 12.50, 2.25, 3.00, 3.30.

      Hay’ 12.50 Samson’s Reach…… 12.0

Back with the others 20 minutes before each respective race.

        1. 2 on the shortlist for the 3.00. Josh’s pick and The Ogle Gogle Man but I need 8.0 in this race and Speak Of The Devil seems solid in the market whereas TOGM has drifted a little but is still a little short of the minimum BFSP.

          3.00 Hay’ The Ogle Gogle Man… 8.0

          1. Well…. TOGM didn’t make the odds and came 2nd, so holding out for the price was vindicated. Last race for me today…..

            3.30 Hay’ True Romance….. 9.0

Just over the minimum right now (9.4)….. GL
