  1. Evening,

I will put write ups in the morning, but, for those who can grab early / late prices of an evening here we go.
    16:40 Listowel
THE BIG LENSE 9/1 gen 1pt win
REACH UP 20/1 gen 1pt win
    write ups in morning.

I looked at this race as though it were a boxing match against the big three trainers and an underdog, who doesn`t love an underdog..In the respect of all three have two horses in this race and maybe I have plumped for the wrong one`s of each, but, there was a bit of a chill in the air the other day and I can definitely feel my NH senses tingling. Onto the horse, he is just a baby as far as chasing goes, so, a real unknown, yes the trainer is out of form, but, this is one of those “nice pots” to pick up early and is probably the reason HDBhead, Mr Mullins and G Elliott have two each in, back to the horse as I`m rambling, his wins have all been over exactly 2m 4f albeit hurdle races, he has been tried over further, but, didn`t seem to last out and maybe 2m is too short for him, his two victories have been on gd/yldng ground and his 2nds were also on that going, so, he clearly likes it. He is definitely the “Will he take to chasing, he is a bit of an unknown!”, Elliott horse in the guise of Borice, he ain`t no Borice, but, at 9/1 is worth a play.
      REACH UP
This is your Rocky horse, the one to maybe steal the thunder from the big boys, he has come up against some stiff opposition this summer, but, and this is an educated guess, he has been targeted for this pot and for a smaller trainer, this is quite a big scalp. The trainer has won the race before with Kylecrue, RU is not at that level, but, the trainer let slip that they were targeting this race and the fact he has two in got my attention, he knows there in for a rough ride, so, why not have a front runner in and see how things pan out??? (his other runner not RU),Reach up is your fighting horse, he does make mistakes granted, but, at 20/1 that is in built in the price. He knows his way round here and have n doubt the trainer will have him primed for this. It will be run at a good speed today and i don`t think that favours the favourite, she was caught flat footed in the race at Galway lto, when cruising and i think ASK SUSAN may again falter in the straight if it comes down to a fight between a couple.

      1. aaargh, stone bruise for REACH UP, gutted as i thought he had a live chance, would have done well i thought as his other runner is a front runner and may get swallowed up here, may have to go with Mullins other runner CABARET QUEEN, ex Skelton horse who has transferred across the water, will like the speed element of this and could surprise off first outing for Mr Mullins.

        1. Great tipping Stewart, thank you – and a nice drift for those of us still lucky enough to benefit from BOG!

    2. It looks as though JP and his merry band of bookies runners are backing this atm, wouldn`t be surprised to see it go off second favourite….hope you all got on and with this course being flat it will suit the speedier types! I know it doesn`t take a lot of cash to influence the market on a Sunday, but, it must be coming from somewhere, my selections aren`t that influential, are they???

      1. Cheers fellas, can`t believe it went to 10/1, told you our bookies don`t know how to price Irish races up…..

    3. Well done Stewart, just watched that by the pool. That wasn’t in doubt for a long way through that to my eyes, has cruised around there, jumped well bar guessing at one. The younger/unexposed chase legs prevail again. Super stuff.

      1. Ok Josh, wish i was there with you, not that you`d want me by your pool, surprised you didn`t hear me cheering from over here!! Light weight, Elliott horse, JP owner etc, you can see it afterwards, but, suppose I saw it before and my eyes are in focus now, watch out the bookies if me and you are on “one”!!

        1. haha – I must admit that my head was a tad fuzzy this morning – I did want to attack that race but I knew I wouldn’t do it justice – I did flick through them after I saw your picks, and he did have an interesting profile for that , 3 chase runs gaining exp, odd excuse, doing a few things- 1st run in a handicap chase also , CP back on – good write up, he clearly has some ability and now has transferred it to fences – Elliot does like using Dempsey esp light weight as he can do it – having been 0/20 for yard in last 2 years, that’s now two winners with Borice and him, for decent pots.
Given Gigginstown’s decision to leave sport etc, it will be interesting if JP has more there – and Elliot will obvs want to do well for him, to get sent more good ones.
Odd that the market didn’t like him – I suppose a couple of Mullins ones have dominated market – was an open race on paper, more so than market made out.

That is the profile to home in on more often than not – as I was reminded again with Full Cry, 3/25 in chases, winner had 9 chase runs.

Anyway, well done again, your chase eyes working well.

Do post some figures up again when you can, or wait until start of next month, as been a decent year for you on the profit front.

    4. The only other thing was, how well did Father Jed run, makes me think I bet John Ryan was gutted when he had to pull REACH UP, would definitely have given TBLense a run for its money..keep an eye out for it runs at Listowel later in the week.I don`t know how long a foot bruise takes to heal, but, watch and shoot when he`s ready.

  2. York.
    2-20. Ladies First 12-1 1pt ew
    4-00. Contrebasse 14-1 1pt ew
write ups in morning time permitting

    1. well a successful first week still very early days but i’m getting some confidence back, of course after saying that it will all go tits up.
      staked 21.5 pts, returns 47.8 pts, +26.3, roi 120%.
      on to today’s,
2-20. Ladies First 12-1 1pt ew, up 4lbs for c&d win lto and has a wide draw to contend with but 2/3 wins have come at York, she beat some nice horses last time and 79 still looks a fair mark. they seem to drop her back to 7f if just trying to get handicap back down so sticking to 1m2f might mean they think she can follow up here’s hoping.
4-00. Contrebasse 14-1 1pt ew, back up to 2m after a disappointing performance lto but a return to flatter track should help and i don’t think we have seen the best of him yet, seems to go on any ground.

  3. I’m off to Catterick tuesday for the first time so another course to tick off the list. got some Racing tv vip tickets so should be a good day out look out for me in the ring or giving out a prize. i’ll stick a reminder up but any advice/tips will be appreciated.
