Day of Roses (10 YO / Miss J E Foster)
Slim pickings on the chase eye-catchers front but I thought it may be worth keeping tabs on this horse, given he chased Marble Moon home at Bangor. That was a decent effort, especially as he was held up further back than the winner, who got first run/had more toe and made a couple of errors. He wasn’t stopping come the line and put distance between him and the 3rd after the last. He’s rated 105 and he was beaten by the right horse – a progressive/younger chaser rated 116. He will need to be well placed in a 0-115 but this was only his second run for the yard, and first after 60 days. Connections will be hopeful of finding a race for him, as a repeat of this Bangor effort would be enough to win plenty of weak C4 summer chases. He’s fairly lightly raced for his age over fences and looks interesting on his next couple of starts, depending on conditions, the oppo and whether said race/track will suit his hold up style. He doesn’t pull and looks genuine so i’ve no idea why they need to keep holding him up so far back. He seems versatile as to trip, with chase wins over 2m6f>3m4f.
