For this week’s Micro Monday i’ve taken a look at Michael Scudamore, who’s a fine trainer of handicap chasers… there’s a video below also…
- Handicap Chase / Handicap Novice Chase
- Age 5-8
- 0-3 chase wins
- Any odds (0/5,0p 22/1+)
157 bets/ 42 wins / 69 places (inc wins) / 27% sr / +129 SP / +164 BFSP / AE 1.62
- Those sent off 22/1+ are 0/5,0p
- Those sent off 6/1< SP : 78 bets / 32 wins / 46 p / 41% sr / +59 SP / +67 BFSP / AE 1.69
- Don’t be put off those coming on the back of a 61+ day break: 11/42, 19p, +44 BFSP
The table above looks at how running style affects performance for M Scudamore handicap chasers, aged 5-8 (2014>). I can’t use the exact rules as the system above, which I’ve researched in HRB. For the pace information I use Geegeez Gold.
1 – is held up, 2 is mid division, 3 is prominent and 4 is leading.
The place % is similar for all groups but as is no surprise, it’s harder for those held up out the back (1). But it’s pleasing to see that he’s more than happy for his chasers to lead/race prominent, as he should be.
