Saturday’s Trends…

To note there won’t be any big race trends from me this weekend. There’s the Shergar Cup, limited to 10 runners a race, and no other big class 2 handicaps elsewhere that I can see. So, a week off on that front.

VIDEO

At the request of Colin a look at Charlie Hills… it’s a fairly lengthy one (well 30 mins)…. the black screen disappears after 1m 18 seconds, no idea why it does that… a few interesting nuggets… in this video I research from scratch so you’re best pausing/noting down anything of interest… the Dane O’Neill stats are interesting, as are various other pointers inc C1/2 races…

    1. I don’t comment often, but you should know that I always go straight to your tips when they are published and back most. My BetFair account, in particular, is very grateful to you. Thanks for going to the trouble of letting us have your tips.

  3. Lambourn
    No bet

Ed Walkers Deamweaver in the 7.15 Sandown only 2/1 and is going up 2 grades and may prove upto it, but not for me at the price.

    1. The judgement being on the trainers comments only, regardless of price or going up in grade, is a tricky one here. Ed has been both positive and negative in this case. From my perspective I think that such comments need to be on the positive side only to be considered as part of the analysis. Therefore I would exclude this runner from my analysis of the trainer.

As an aside Just The Man runs in the same race. He eventually got his head in front last time out, having been backed. He was 7/1 last night but has been backed again. The obligatory non runner has now come about and so there are only now seven runners and so the each way angle gets reduced.

I am not one for conspiracy stories re bookmakers but am surprised how many non runners there are each day in such races.

    2. Martins wisdom Ed puts a positive word for one at 1 to 4 on then you must back it! having watched Lambourn for 6 months will do it my way. 2/1 going up 2 grades is to short and not worth the risk better opportunities will come along soon at far better prices.

      1. You are allowed different interpretations gents, including on price/value, which is ALWAYS in the eye of the beholder and dependent on approach.

It doesn’t need much discussion – Martin is looking to take a more systematic approach it seems? based on what the trainers are saying/how positive they sound , with less consideration of price as such, certainly at lower end.

Colin , you’re taking a more ‘starting point’ approach based on your experience of having read/tracked for a few months, and using as a way in for your own analysis, with the trainer’s you wish to follow etc.

Both approaches are valid, and I quite enjoy any discussion on Horse X, and price, as it’s always illuminating to see how different punters think.

Without looking at the race/horse, something at 2s going up 2 grades would automatically make me wary, albeit anything at that price or shorter makes me a tad nauseous anyway!! 🙂

2s may turn out to be massive, as with more information, times/ratings, assessment of oppo, run style etc another punter may come to a different conclusion. That’s the game. You have to do it your way.

As an aside… Ed Walker… he indicated his Kempton runner yesterday would come on for the run after 200+ days off, first run for him. It won. Horses can often surprise trainer’s with fitness I think, esp 1st time, and it could be Ed didn’t think he would be fit enough but he clearly was – but that could mean there’s even more to come NTO.

  4. Recieved this yesterday from betting school golf Mark Foley Northern Trust do not know why, anyway this is an example of what other golf tipsters do
    Jon Rahm 16/1 2.5 ew
    Justin Rose 20/1 2.5 ew
    Webb Simpson 25/1 2 ew
    X. Schaufele 28/1 2 ew
    Nick Watney 200/1 1 ew
Staggering 20 points staked on one tournament, and nothing about terms 1/5 7 etc, no nothing about Mark Foley and personally not intrested do not know why this was sent to me.

Josh put it up here for do not like passing on other peoples information and if i do stop putting golf up then Mark Foley may be of use to some of the golf enthusiasts on the free post.
