The Cheltenham stats/trends pack:  READ HERE>>>

(i think it’s complete, all 30 pages and 5000+ ‘words’ of it. The 13 target races – I haven’t bothered with stats/trends for The Gold Cup – plus 10 micro angles, all saved. I plan to post all ‘qualifiers’ as starting points, and the trends/stats shortlist for each race, and as with previous years that will be the foundation on which I try to build)

Feb Tipping Comp Winner + Discretionary Prize

Tipping Comp Winner! (£50 cash)

GEORGE B

7/66, +105.78 BFSP. 159.09% ROI

Discretionary Prizes (£20 cash)

Now I won’t be this generous every month, and i’ve still to search down the side of my couch etc, but…

  1. Warren Bottomley: You can see his results below but anyone who pulls in +77 to BFSP at a 109% ROI can probably feel aggrieved at not winning! I’m not setting a precedent here though, I must have woken up in a good mood 🙂
  2. Francis: recognition for a quite brilliant run with his Francis System bets, and as a thanks for posting them every day. +65, and that’s to widely available prices at 10am.
  3. Stewart : more of a historical recognition for this jumps season, which has been remarkable given the target races. And his Feb was pretty good, and he didn’t start March in too shabby fashion either. His results to end of Feb below also.
  4. CHUBNUT : again that’s more a historical recognition for his thought provoking comments which in truth make me smile, sometimes nod my head, sometimes shake my head and make me spit out my coffee, but always make me think. Polite, and at times mildly abrasive comments fuelled by a nice red, are fine 🙂

So, all 5 of you, please email me as above, and i’ll sort payment early next week. I think I can count that as a valid business expense! 🙂

(I think all of you bar Warren have indicated what you wish to do with the winnings…)

Feb Results below, from those who posted them I think… if i’ve missed you, do shout!

  1. FRANCIS SYSTEM BETS
    RT +63.23

No joy on Sunday. Friend of the thread Dyliev again proved too strong for Thounder. Aquarian was disappointing.

    1pt win 2.40 F – Fifty Shades

    HCAP CHASE BETS
    RT +3.44

    No bets.

  2. Many thanks for the prize by the way Josh. Hopefully it is not like the manager of the month curse in the footy!

For a bit of light entertainment, I am thinking a Cheltenham double with the money with all proceeds to charity. The double will consist of your best bet and my best bet if you are game? (And you thought risking our money was hard enough!)

I will play it relatively safe (hopefully) with Sir Erec in the Triumph…

      1. Cheers Martin. Always conscious of a correction but March has been OK historically and so hopefully we can add to the tally. Post March, things seem to tail away for the one pointers so that might be the natural end point for the system bets until next NH season.

  4. Twas the week before Cheltenham and all was still. Even Chubnut had not stirred yet. The racing will be low grade stuff this week apart from Saturday when the imperial Cup, a cracking race in the past, is with us. I remember backing Olympian to win the Imperial which he did and then putting the lot on him to win at Cheltenham, which he did. A stonking old style Pipe gamble.

Tip – On Monday there is a poor handicap hurdle at Southwell at 5.00. Heavenly Promise has won in this class and at the class above. At 14/1 now, in a poor race, I will have a go for 1 point each way.

    1. I’ve been following your tips Francis excellent work and a big thanks to you for them I think that’s really nice of you to do a charity double so with 20 quid of my own cash I’d like to put it on that double too with the proceeds going to your charity pal.

    2. Thanks Francis. I’ll have a ponder! I’m thinking RSA (Delta Work most likely, maybe Topofthegame) and Ryanair (Monalee, assuming he shows up there). Probably Monalee at 4s/5s, but TBC. Good idea.
      Josh

      1. Nice one Josh! I was thinking with the charitable giving idea taking off, perhaps we could set up a justgiving page for donations. I’m sure we would all support your local charity for the first year. It would seem fitting to thank you for all the effort you have put in to growing this community. We could then ask for submissions from members as to charities close to their heart and do a draw to determine the RTP charity for 2020 and change it up each year. Only rule would be that the charity wasn’t controversial e.g. probably poor example but anti-abortion charity people might have different views on.

Just a thought. Happy to look into setting up a page if you are supportive. I’m assuming charities will be willing to accept the dirty money from bookies!

  6. Off to Fakenham today to see my leg of Swaffham Bulbeck hopefully finish in front of all the others legs in the 2.10. He clearly deserves to be favourite so we are very hopeful. Lto over 2m here he just got chinned and the extra 3f should be no disadvantage. Everything crossed and hoping for some more rain.

    Today’s selection
1pt e/w Benton’s Boy 5pm Southwell. Down in class, lower than last winning mark with ok 7lb claimer, steps up to 3m for the first time. Trainer could be in better form but seems to target this course.

    1. Ah just noticed there was a Benton’s Lad and a Sundance Boy in this race but not a Benton’s Boy! I was on Benton’s Lad. You’ll tell me now it was meant to be Sundance Boy 🙂

  7. Just a quick one peeps, more of a pointer rather than a tip, Gordon Elliott yesterday did one of his classic moves and i was going to tip up Woods Well, but, with having no form at the track I didn`t bother, the point being Gordon at this time of year always seems to get the outsiders as ready as the top horses in his yard, so, what I`m trying to say is, don`t discount his outsiders, they will be as primed, maybe even fitter than some of his hotpots. I`m probably repeating what Josh has done in the stats, but, as i focus on a lot of Irish racing I thought I would pass on for what it`s worth! Don`t discount them cause they are out of recent form.
On a side note I am gutted Ivanovitch Gorbatov isn`t running, believe he would have gone close in one of the handicap hurdles…ah well onto the Punchestown festival instead!!

      1. Only the one later in the 5.30 has traded at a high of 30.0 and been backed back into 9.4 which is below the minimum but could drift back out a couple of points when the on course market opens which doesn’t bother me any. So I’ll put it up anyway.

5.30 South’ Torn And Frayed 11.0

Yesterday we were on the bubble again. Right now I think it’s fair to say I’m overestimating the percentages so if it bothers you, just adjust your stake by lowering it one tick when you set the minimum SP on Betfair.

    1. I know IG had a reasonable run LTO but I think his Triumph win bottomed him out. I think that IG not running may have saved you some money.
Well done on your tipping form Stewart. Some big races at the festival for you to have a go at.

  13. This is the Rebel MC to George B 🙂

There is a warm favourite in the 18.45 Wolverhampton tonight but Gaye Kellaway runs Cosmelli, first time eyeshield, 50% win and place with that jock over last year. Is it a plot or a sighter for the turf flat?

Mr Probert has some unusually donkey like rides tonight, the exception being Bequest in the last. Has another warm fav to beat.

    Good luck, any fancies?

Do you have time/would you be able to repeat what you did the other day by putting all the various tips on here in race order? Smiley faces and all 🙂

I don’t have the time to go through each comment daily to find the selections and sometimes when I do then I get caught up reading everything and end up missing a fair few.

    Thanks

        Josh

      1. It was more about the trainer than the horse on this occasion. Something I’ve learned from being a member of RTP. I would of not even looked at it a few years ago.

  19. First race of interest this afternoon is the 3.20 so will post afternoon at 2.00 with evening update at 4.30

      1. Only the one later in the 5.30 has traded at a high of 30.0 and been backed back into 9.4 which is below the minimum but could drift back out a couple of points when the on course market opens which doesn’t bother me any. So I’ll put it up anyway.

        1. haha .. why not …… yeah sure it just a lipoma .. and hopefully just a decision of syringe / cut out/ leave alone 🙁 ???

          1. Hi George, I had a Lipoma – non-cancerous (not to be confused with a Lymphoma – cancerous) removed from my leg a few years back. In and out the same day under local anaesthetic. Simples 🙂

          2. OH 😮
A fellow lipoma’er Ken 🙂 …… yeah i had an ultra sound about 2/3 weeks ago they were 99.999999999 % quite sure it was a lipoma .. but just wanted me to have a “mri” ..just to cross the “T” ‘s and dot the eyes 🙂 …… so now the wait for the decsion on how to deal with it ! 🙂 …… not in love with that mri machine ? …very claustrophobic for my liking 🙁 ………….. i was very brave though 😉
Glad you got sorted all ok ..on we go !
            gl/gb 🙂

          3. George
be positive, the MRI machine was in there for over an hour for the nurse did not say anything about not moving, head phones on music playing taping my fingers to the beat, she stopped the machine and asked me what i was doing just taping to the music, also had a dry throat cough so a nightmare managed to finally get a result after an hour plus.
            All the best
            Colin

          4. heee hee .. i was on suicide watch .. i was listening to ed sheeran ….i was too scared to move for 25 minutes ..lol 🙂 ….. nearly squeezed the trigger to get me out of here ..but didn’t ..just 🙂
