Daily Tips (x3)

4.20 Exeter

Aurillac – 1 point win – 12/1 (gen) PU, never going, couldn’t lay up

Chic Name – 1 point win – 20/1 (888 sport) 16/1 (bet365/Betf) 14s (others)  UP, underwhelming run.

Aurillac – running into form, does have a touch of class, responds to pressure, runs as if he will relish this distance, and his older form is some of the best/the best in this race… the ground is a niggle – his best form has been with ‘good’ in the going although his trainer thinks he may want softer now, but on what I can see I can’t use it as an excuse pre-race. IF he can hold a position and travel in his comfort zone he will be staying on at the end.

Chic Name – only his 7th handicap chase, he has upside potential yet still has enough experience – his best handicap chase run to date was his win in the National at Perth, and it’s his first run over a marathon trip since. He ran well in last year’s X Country at the Festival given the weights, and has run well twice this season, doing all his best work late. Unlike many in here he won’t have an issue with the ground and this looks as if it’s been a plan, for a yard in better form than they have been. I expect a very big run and can’t believe he was put in at 20s/16s/14s… hopefully he’s supported, jumps off near the front, and demolishes them. I can dream.

More detail below…

Video Preview

(yes yes, I don’t know why I try to keep them short! The first 13 mins look at a general overview/pace and the two selections, the rest of it is a quick tour through all the other runners and why I don’t like them.. the biggie I’d fear most, if returning to form, would be Dancing Shadow, but wasn’t enough to tempt me in…)

3.55 Warwick

Quaranta – 1 point win – 13/2 (gen) WON 13/2>9/2

as of 8.47, that’s all for tipping today…

In general i’ll be sticking to C3+ handicap chases for these Daily tips but I couldn’t resist this one at 13/2 who looks a couple of points too big. I tipped him to victory here 2 starts back where he won a shade cosily and got his jockey out of trouble. He then ran at Newbury where I also tipped him, only for the weather to spoil his chance. It was anything but Good ground come his race there and he just looks much better on a sounder surface. That was also a much better race and he didn’t receive the best of rides for me. He returns to Warwick where he’s 2/2, in a small field (which may be important also) and he’s the most interesting in here for me. There’s more to come, and I thought STD was an interesting booking. He could have ridden his dads or even the Nick Williams horse I suspect, and he has a very good record over fences at the track. He should be able to track the pace and may appreciate this longer trip also. I think he could still have a bit in hand and is the one I wanted to be on. The others had enough questions for me at the prices, with maybe Bailey’s being the most interesting. King’s is short enough for one yet to win, and they don’t put the visor on for decoration. It needs to work, and that’s a short price to find out in my view.

Blessed To Empress… 7.45 Chelm

Sadly I can’t make it down this time to watch her run – always bad timing in the week and I didn’t want to negatively affect any chance I have of finding a big race winner tomorrow- i’d have had to stay down there etc, it’s a trek, and not a cheap trip… anyway…

This race is clearly all about the favourite who’s won easily on his last few runs and still looks well handicapped, and with this 7lb off even more so – these runs will catch up with him soon but doesn’t look like it as yet. I think we are playing for place money at best, but 18s is insulting, and maybe she’ll be an OK price on the BF place market. Her last run was a write off given the draw and track position, but she ran ok up the straight, responding for pressure without being given a hard time. The jockey knows her and to my biased eyes I thought she had a great chance of being best of the rest and was overpriced to be so. She is what she is, loitering around this mark, and with the ability to win at this level when a race lacks in-form, unexposed ones! She will win more races in turn, but today looks tough. She’ll be giving her all though, and the £962 for 2nd would add to the pot, or indeed £400 for finishing 3rd-8th. She’s already won just over 17k for us, which isn’t bad for a C6 animal (very well placed on her 1st start to win a +10k bonus race!) 🙂

  1. Actual not competition tips – 1.30 Exe, Good And Handy, 1 point each way, now 15/2. Has its first run in handicap company after some OK novice runs. Trainer and jockey in form.
2.50 Warwick, Aintree My Dream, 1 point each way, 9/1 now. Beginning to get it together over fences. Trainer in form.

System selections – Emma Lavelle handicapper 5/1+. 2.05 Exe, Flemcara, 1 point each way at 10/1 now.

    Good luck.

  2. Colins bets and Elite bets
Will be late on again for Doctors appointment 9.30, there is a potential Elite bet in the 1.30 so plenty of time.
Today colins bet had a winner SP 5/2 from 4/1 and a 3rd at 15/2
Elite had a winner at SP 2/1 from 5/2 and one unplaced, so 11 winners from 30 bets this month so far.

    1. Cheers Colin .I know it’s been a tough time but I have stuck by you for the last few months .I never complain about losing runs I always thought you would come good .You post your selections at times normal punters can get on .I don’t understand why the other guys here post the night before .Surely they don’t get on themselves .So Cheers again Colin at least I know your 4/1 winner is 4/1 Not some made up price from the night before Win or lose at least its an honest price.

      1. I have to say tipping the night before is my pet hate too James. It is well known that price secured vs SP price and time of bet vs race time are the two biggest factors bookies use to manage accounts. It is probably unfair to blame contributors putting up bets the night before as they have to fit it in around their normal and working lives so can do what they want, Josh however should know better :). Really pleased to hear Colin is on the mend, I’m still with him too. Still only COLINS BETS at this stage but ELITE really going well now. No Sheffield trip this month Colin, they chose the delights of Eastleigh instead. Hopefully Sheffield on the agenda for the next workshop (April).

        1. Ha, noted! I thought as i’d made a decision I may as well put them up, albeit history does suggest i’m always better sleeping on it. But in any case i’ll declare to morning prices 🙂 Many contributors have day jobs etc so have to post when convenient, but then a case of judging results based on prices you can obtain etc.

      2. Hi James
Thank you for your kind words and sticking with me on this poor run, mentioned yesterday the mild winter and no routine NH abandonments over Nov to Feb so the extra AW meetings were not needed this year, cannot believe my small amount of bets in Jan/Feb.
Agree with you over pricing and how i do it is the most honest you can get, years of experience and purchasing a few of the con tipsters out there learning the hard and costly way.
It is very easy to manipulate the results and figures and forgetting to deduct R4s etc.
This is why i record at SP and BOG which 2 bookmakers or more display the price will never claim a stand alone bookmaker and all claims are off Oddschecker so anyone can check the claim.
Once again thank you for your kind words.
        Colin.

  3. Unfortunately Josh I have had to take you on… I love a good National and this one has brought me out of hibernation a day early to post a couple…
    16:20 Exeter
SAMUEL JACKSON 15/2 gen 1pt win
This guy was the fortunate winner of a race LTO at Exeter, as the leader at the time capsized and let this guy in the side door, it was a novice chase, so, this one is either really good, or, will be out the back of the tv…We shall go with the former for selection purposes.
CALIN DU BRIZAS 11/1 hills 1 pt win
He ran second LTO in the Sussex national to THE TWO AMIGOS, a horse you all know i like and ran him really close that day, think his day will come and hopefully that will be today. He does take some cajoling and Tom Cannon will have his work cut out, but, once in front I think he will remember what this game is about and help himself to the spoils.
    SANDY BEACH 16/1 gen 1pt e/w
I know you all think I`m going mad, but, messers Tizzard and Cobden know how to win these races and i believe their strike rate this season in the big 3m plus chases is something not to be sniffed at, after his win early in the season, i personally thought this fella would be as good as some of the other staying chasers in the yard, but, well….we shall see, he does need to pull it out of the fire here and maybe this extreme distance is what he needs, before following in stablemate ULTRAGOLD`s shoes and having a crack at a Topham chase.

As always hope all horses and jockeys come back safe and sound and good luck with whatever you pick out tomorrow / today.

    1. Best of luck Stewart, i’ve disagreed with you before and been left red faced, and I disagree with you again 🙂 I tipped Calin LTO so i’ll brace myself.

    2. HERE’S SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH YOU STEWART :
“I spent quite a while on this race and one horse does pop out as offering a value angle.
Owner Brocade Racing used to quite regularly play the PU last time out trick with the Pipe yard, ahead of a serious crack at a little staying pot at a provincial track, and they have an interesting runner with that profile lining up today.
The market assumes SANDY BEACH is a horse losing the will to compete three runs after wind surgery – and that may be the case – but the gelding was previously PU in his only start at Sandown and I think it’s just as likely that last run was intended to drop him a few pounds ahead of today. It’s not as though he was running especially badly before wind surgery.
If this proves correct, then it was mission accomplished and he lines up realistically treated at a track he likes, over an ideal-looking trip in the advertised conditions.
Colin Tizzard also has an excellent record in the race: 2 wins from 8 runners with 2 also finishing 4th in 14 runner fields. In fact, he’s a man who in general has a habit of popping up with well-treated horses to do well in decent handicaps of all sorts.
Speculative, and it may not be pretty to watch even on a going day, but Sandy Beach has the whiff of value about him and looks fairly priced to find out.”

  5. TRUE DETECTIVE
“Eggs have no business dancing with stones”

Chief Detective Inspector Mrs Ima Capper arrived at the scene “what have we got Sergeant Theods” Taking a deep breath Sgt Nick Theods showed his lack of experience at this level by muttering ” Its a” he paused struggling to find his composure ” It’s a Three mile six furlong Chase at Exeter Guv” Unlike Nick Theods, Capper had seen this scenario many times and knew how one could get thrown by unreliable statements, dubious sightings and how these situations can hide a serial winner!!

As Capper perused the clues in front of her she immediately noticed that forensics had the going as good to soft. “Theods, we need to check the weather, this time of year it could easily turn” Checking on my weather 2 for Exeter Theods realised the fine forecast could be a dastardly turn for the investigation and lead them down the wrong path. After processing the mugshots on the GGZ database Capper concluded that a few front running suspects would help the Team in the pace of the enquiry. It was now She decided to consult World famous profilers for help eliminating some of the suspects, but sadly with Josh ” Big Chase” Wright away visiting a Tibetan monastery in search of the meaning of “unexposed” she had to fall back on the Asian expert Imshur Itsim.

“What’s up Guv” said Theods, noticing the frown on his boss’s face. Capper knew how Itsim was renowned for ignoring any suspect at the fore of the game and so with heavy heart, she wrote his findings of the suspect on the whiteboard outside Her office. Mid division, hold up merchant. Doesnt like getting involved in murky games. And, the biggest pointer. Definitely has form. With the pace of the operation Capper put all her eggs in one nosebag and decided the suspect nag (sorry mistake lag) had probably served time over the same crime, maybe even on the same manner.
The pressure for a finger on the suspect sheet by her superior, Commissioner Howie Abos, forced Cappers hand and despite Nick Theods report of Jepeck coming into plenty of cash, had to admit for once she didn’t have a clue. And so late in the day while the game was changing from a foot to a hoof, the Hierarchy at Spotbad Yard decided to outsource another stealth Company Nick Mazur.

Post Script: Ima Capper has been here before with cases like this and she’s not at all put out at it being sent to others. She will be back. Nick Theods continues to increase his knowledge and one of the unmentioned, Chubnut, needs to get a life. ( smiley)

    1. LOL My Grandad who was a pioneer went to court twice in Galway for moon shining as he was the landowner. My uncle just ended up with an addiction. 100 years later the world seems to remain the same.

  6. My grandad did time in Galway Jail, the inheritance law in those days was the eldest son inherited the land,he was the eldest son but his sister had other ideas so the peelers put him away, fortunately the jailer was a cousin so he got out after 10 days

  7. A neighbour of mine was sentenced to time in Castlereagh for drunk and disorderly. The gardai had to drive him up,he was a bit peckish so the had to get him breakfast.Anyway when he got to the prison, there was no room so the warden gave him a ticket for the train home,he departed in ballinasloe for a few drinks and supper, paid for by the warden too,on departing the pub he hailed down the guards that had taken him to jail and got a lift back home

  8. Hi Josh

Just got home what a great day for the syndicate couldn’t believe the SP I took 13/2 last night may have been a bit lucky with the fav mistake at the last but Jockey said he had plenty in hand and still would have won
Thanks again for your picks on the day together with Nick, Francis and SP2A had a profitable day

    Regards

    Peter

    1. Good stuff Peter. Yes that was some price! On he had the fav well covered there. A very nice horse on your hands and he’ll be some chaser when strengthening up. He looked a unit from what I could see and a nice frame to grow into . Exciting times. And clearly a touch of class to win 2m novice given I suspect he’s a staying chaser in making. Yep some good runs/wins, well it picked up after race 1 for me anyway haha.

      1. Yes chaser in the making according to the trainer as well and a good start for the new syndicate onwards to the next runner

        Peter

look forward to a pint when your are next up, worked out well that your meeting is not in Sheffield, am active but still taking so many tablets so unable to have alcohol, and Doctor given me another weeks supply of antibiotics so finish the coarse on 3rd March, only a mild infection nothing to worry about.

  16. today’s selections,
Warwick 2-50. Aintree My Dream 12-1 1/2 pt ew, very open looking race and i did look closely at Foxtail Hill but thought the 7-1 a bit skinny all things considered and AMD was much better value.
Warwick 3-20. no selection but i will be having a couple of small ew’s on Boher Lad and Red Admirable
Exeter 1-30. i’m going to split my bet and have 1/4 pt ew on Max Forte 11-1 and Buywise 18-1

    our system says :
    3.30 Lingfield 12 Pharoh Jake
but and it is a big BUT 🙂 ……… Drawn in the widest / worst berth ..CAUTION:)
it has drifted ..WHAT MORE DO WE WANT !! 🙂 ??????????????
Think we might be heading for 4/4 losses 🙂 ( but i have backed it e/w to 4th place 🙂 )
p.s. monsieur ivory’s runner seems to have been smashed in in the same race ..but not on my ivory system ?? …so will probably win obviously 🙂
    GL/GB 🙂
p.p.s.you any thoughts elsewhere to help me out ?? 🙂

    1. on the plus side …TIMEFORM say :
      Timeform View
This looks open, but HOLDENHURST strung 2 good runs together for the first time in his career last month, and from a handy draw, is the most persuasive option. PHAROH JAKE also arrives in good nick, while Tavener can be excused his Wolverhampton run last time and can also figure.
WMSL ….. WE GOT NO CHANCE NOW THEN 🙂
      gl/gb 🙂
      here’s to a good day 🙂

      1. Hi George, feel rough today (cough and cold) so not got my analytical head on. Will just follow your good self 🙂

  21. Druide Premier Exeter 13:30 1pt e/w 25/1-I was on the fence wit this one at 10/1 last night but this is now a silly price. Full brother to Dynaste who is being stepped up 8f on handicap debut with a first time hood on and has ran OK in novice hurdles so there is a fair chance he is a lot better than 110.

I know its very niche but Pipe with 6yr olds making their handicap hurdle debuts wearing headgear they were not on their previous run and stepping up more than 4f are 3/6 so he does have previous doing this.

  22. today’s selections,
Warwick 2-50.
    Exeter 2-05 Flemcara 9-1 1/2 pt ew
    Exeter 4-20. Unioniste 12-1 1/2 pt ew

    1. ha sadly not, as always when I pick out two! Damn. Never mind, did you?? Hope so. Nice return. 24/1 or so. Damn! Happy with the win return and profit on day whatever, and a confidence boost. One of the others going in would be nice. Maybe a 1-2 there haha.

  27. Watching Exeter reminded me of the famous line form Michael Fish when just the letters OG where on his weather chart ”Sorry about the F in Fog”. Guess i was fortunate that i couldn’t actually see all ours lose in the same Race – oh well, now where’s that Cooking Fat gone ? 🙂

    1. yes that was painful for team RTP, none of us got that right, a rather sorry effort! Thought it may happen too quick for the winner, no surprise this has been the plan, they haven’t gone any pace there, thought he wanted a bog so got that wrong! Last two runs decent enough in fairness, damn. Still, at least the winner of the 3.55 lifted my own mood for a profitable day.

        1. cheers, well we won’t get ahead of ourselves haha – but a booster if nothing else! Long time since I picked a winner.

        Peter
