8.15 Kempton – Blessed To Empress

She was meant to run at Chelmsford on Thursday, where obviously she’d have bolted up! 🙂 Sadly I can’t make it down to Kempton this time, but I probably won’t be able to resist a small EW wager at 9s – the issue is the draw and this race, or even whether she places, will be decided in the first 1-2f i suspect. In 14 runner races those drawn in 13/14 here over 7f in handicaps are 5/143, 20p since the start of 2016. ‘2nd’ widest are 14/198,40p, and actually the place stats hold up fairly well. In any case, we will try and go forward and it’s a question of how she starts, (she’s been superb on recent runs, but can occasionally blow it) and how much gas she has to use to get a prominent position/tucked in. She could end up being stuck 4/5 wide for the trip, game over. She’s fit, well and it’s her first run at the track, so we shall see. The race doesn’t look the strongest and if she could get a decent early position, she’d be thereabouts come the end. Not one to go mad on, and in fairness if I didn’t own a share then I’d probably leave it, given the draw. But, it’s not an impossible task.

    1. Hi Francis
Short priced winner but a winner, you are starting to tick along nicely with both your methods.
      Cheers
      Colin

  2. An idea for the tipping comp….how about setting a small entry fee say something around the £2 to £5 mark and maybe a volunteer to keep track of it? I’d love to do it myself if I didn’t work! Donations to supplement my loss of income gratefully accepted!

      1. Hi G, 18.15 Kempton Jenkins/Probert are a massive 71% win 85% place when teaming up over the last year. Chloellie is the runner, currently only 9/4 but the stats are in favour! Maybe worth doubling up with summink? 🙂

        1. okee dokes i am on the case mc 🙂
thanks for that gl later then 🙂
          gl/gb 🙂
p.s. i am not one to follow (as everyone knows 🙂 leave that to the experts on here …glad i didn’t waste too much on kk 🙂

  4. Sonnet rose 6.15 Kemp
A solid jolly here in cholellie but the combination of Rippling being in that classic spot of upped in class, downed in distance and Chica still looking for a win in this class, I’m hoping to put my swagmans headband on punt an each way steal bet. The pace looks moderate so a sprint one furlong out looks on he cards which isnt going to help hold ups. Sonnet should get the run of the race here which is half the battle at this game

    1. hmmm… no. 🙂 That defeats the point somewhat, it’s meant to be a bit of fun and not add to my workload (which any such payment faff would do), nor there be a barrier. Everyone is paying subs etc. – All in context that until I get some software built etc, this is the best we are going to get – so it’s this or nothing.
If someone can’t be bothered to keep a rough track of their results, then they don’t need to enter. It doesn’t exactly take much time and they should be keeping those sorts of records anyway for betting.

I’m not sure what the benefit is to the wider audience of in-month/daily running totals- we shouldn’t be following anyone on here unless they have a decent record built up anyway.
Keeping manual track of all those who enter would be a lot of time for someone, and i’m not sure what the benefit would be at this stage.

      1. Au contraire Josh. Running totals are a great help in deciding who to watch and maybe follow in the future. Plus they helped me to quit the Feb comp seeing George B so far ahead 🙂

        1. Ha, I meant generally in the sense of me or someone else keeping tabs/publishing daily etc, which just isn’t practical at the moment. At same time i’m also not going to continually encourage those entered to keep a running tab, but clearly up the individual and they are helpful. But will have the monthly re-cap anyway to absorb etc.
          Josh

        1. ha, well no it made sense, I can see the appeal, but not a road I wish to go down. You can’t have good ideas without firing off loads of poor ones, unless that’s just me! Hopefully one day we’ll have a shiny tipping league portal built into the blog etc. Current approach isn’t ideal but is the best it can be at moment I think.
