  1. FAO John Unitt – hi John, have tagged a response onto your last post on 14/1 thread, cheers Mark.

    1. Thanks Mark, yes saw that, great. I was just wondering if you could say anything more about your approach at all please. Don’t want to ask anything which might disadvantage you by ‘giving too much away’ etc. I wondered how much time on average you spend daily on it – obviously it will vary a lot depending on day of week. Also anything you might be able to expand on with the approach. Finally any stats info on results to date such as W/L and ROI. It just occurs that this might help other folk, especially other newbies, and it may be at some point i will be freer to spend more time myself – although that isn t likely for many months at least. Hope you don t mind me asking. I am out for most of day after 830 until mid/late afternoon and no INet access then so no rush and please excuse me not corresponding further if you do get back at all today. Hope you have a good day

      1. Hi John, thanks for the reply, no problem. I usually spend around half an hour the night before researching the trainer/jockey data on geegeez, then around one and a half to two hours on the day noting the selections on this site and reading up the Racing Post and Sporting Life racecard analysis. Black mark for me, I am a small stakes bettor and do not keep scrupulous records…cue opprobrium being heaped upon me! But I do this for fun and do not bet eye watering stakes. Looking at my account I seem to have on average a couple of winners a day, sometimes up sometimes down, longest losing run about 11 bets. Like most, I am on a downward trend since September but have been slowly clawing back. I have the advantage of being able to watch the betting when I get back from the afternoon dog walk so if my selections drift alarmingly I cash out and or save on a nibbled at runner. It is amazing how often this has saved my bacon.

Another profitable source that I have only paid attention to since last summer is the all weather. Having previously written this off as donkey racing I am now a convert, especially Kempton and Chelmsford. I focus on races with only one winner in them (often overlooked as too obvious) or with three or four with good winning/placed form figures again using RP analysis. I often back two or three if a race is competitive rather than backing each way. These bets have often got my day back on an even keel after turf losses. Again, following the market at the evening meetings has proved invaluable.

Hope this helps, I am no big shot but just a fun backer who hates long losing runs!

        All the best.

  2. Just watched the betting in the 7.45 and Sky bet had a price boost on the fav and surprise it lost have noticed this price boost before and they have lost no research on this but does not matter who the bookmaker is when they offer a price boost may be worth watching when you have time, would not back them for lay for a while could be a load of rubbish but maybe not time will tell.
The bookies are not generous and may have info that the horse may not be fit enough to win.

Buy the mirror on Saturday and a clown tips in there called John Shaw only one bet towards the back page and he his useless sponsored by PP, did record him for awhile that is why can call him useless he backs short priced horses and do they lose another possibility for anyone into laying.
Does anyone buy the Mirror on a weekly basis for would be interesting to see if he maintains his high losing rate midweek as well.
    5 Jan Won 3/1
    12 Jan Lost
These are the two bets this year.
    Colin.

    1. John Shaw is not a good name for a clown! What is wrong with Coco or Bonzo?

Nothing from me on Tuesday, low grade stuff, looks trappy.

      Good luck.

    2. A service I tried out for a couple of months had an actual strategy for laying these price boosts Colin but only on the skyboosts I don’t like the concept of lay betting so I never really followed the system

  3. That was some turnaround in form. Champagne Rules beaten 6 lengths by Bollihope LTO and beats him 3 lengths today with only 6lbs different in weights. Skybet knew!

Having said that, the horse CR beat 2 runs ago has bolted up since so he was probably entitled to do that if you could excuse the last run (where he was too keen).

  4. HANDICAP CHASE SYSTEM

    RT-0.39

    1.40 L – Light entertainment 11/2
    3.20 N – Mumgos Debut 15/8

    FRANCIS SYSTEM BETS

    RT-4.17

Both yesterday’s ran ok finishing 3rd and 4th but that doesn’t pay the bills.

    1pt win 1.40 L – Early du Lemo 2/1

    Will settle to 10am odds

just watched your video from Ampton point to point and yes it is great to see and feel the speed that they go over the fences live nothing like sitting at home on the sofa.
One recommendation go down to the last fence at a Grade one course and see the speed of the quality race horse jump the last it is mind blowing especially if there are 3 or 4 going flat out for the win.
    Colin.

        1. Even as a full time punter once you are in the swing of things you can get by with two hours in the evening going through the cards, two hours in the morning and then watching racing in the afternoon for a few hours and doing systems research. We also have three dogs and so spend 2.5 hours a day on podcasts while walking them through the woods. You have to be wary of overkill or your brain freezes up. I have other sources of income from past professions and so do not need to make money to live but to pay for holidays and nice thing.
If I was back working again I would do three hours a night and a bit extra at weekends.

        2. Hi Mark, many thanks for the extra information – all interesting and helpful. Interesting observations about the AW, must admin i have never really got involved much at all although i suspect that its differing nature lends itself to some deep analysis for those with time and interest!

still up on the day thanks to this site 🙂

  15. Another blank day for me over jumps. Very frustrating! Found several of interest on the surface, but once I start digging down into the nitty gritty I seem to keep unearthing some shocking stats and the red pen’s out again. Problem with novices (flat or jumps) is that as the season reaches the mid point you tend to find that all the good ones have been noticed and the market has taken account. Anything that hasn’t been found a race by now is likely a qwerky type that’s been difficult to train or has had injury problems to overcome. So frequency of bets generally is all downhill once I hit February.

Possibilities on the sand again but will review later when the market has matured. Back about 4.00

  16. Sky Bet price boost
12.25 Cagnes Sur Mer Falcao Negro Odds on to Evens interesting to see how this one runs in France.

Do not back for not been checked out but have a sneaky feeling this Price Boost could be good for layers and not a lot of financial risk at the prices.

  17. Kemp’ 6.15 Subliminal……. 11.0 (Currently 9.6)
    Kemp’ 7.15 Be Thankful….. 8.0 (Currently 8.0)

Might not get either of these but I won’t be backing them for anything less.
