4.Any general messages/updates etc

NOTE: I’ve  ‘completed’ the post at 7pm your time (11am my time) which means i’ve used generally available evening prices for section 1 and the strategies as such. I’ll be doing that this week as it’s more convenient for me and I only wish to update a post once while i’m away on holiday. I’d normally use widely available prices at 8am for such a purpose.

Best of luck with any bets today.

  1. Only just got done in time this morning mainly due to the analysis work I got involved with last night. I ran the NR+1 test last night and it threw up returns approximately that of the previous run except I noticed that when compared in detail it favours the larger fields, whereas NR => BFSP favours the smaller fields so I’ve adjusted the odds accordingly. It doesn’t make a lot of difference it just means that the increments are 1.2 instead of 1.0.

Theoretically it should optimise the performance in the longer term, but even so there will always be the odd winner we miss out on. I’ve just run it against the selections to date and the results are improved albeit an exceptionally small sample, but given the size of the dataset I used to base it upon, I’m certain that it will make a noticeable difference.

  2. Tuesday’s results…..

    Ling’ 12.50….. What A Hoot…… 7.4 … Unp @ 6.4
    Ling’ 1.20…… Cavok (2nd Pref’)…12.0 … 3rd @ 18.5
    Hunt’ 2.10 …. Distingo……………. 6.2 …. 2nd @ 25.6
    Here 2.30 ….. Going Gold………… 7.4 …. Unp @ 5.91
    Ling’ 2.50…. Broughton’s Rhythm 6.2 …. Fell @ 8.54
    Ling’ 3.20 ……Notre Ami…………. 11.0 … 2nd @ 3.85
    Here’ 4.00…….Court Royale………. 11.0 .. Unp @ 6.2
    Chel’ 5.45 ……Jamabiya…………… 8.6….. Abandoned
    Chel’ 6.15 ……Governor’s Choice.. 9.8…… Abandoned

Review: 1st day using the new odds and we still missed out, but there were a couple of late withdrawals that shortened a couple and as for Notre Ami, well I thought that was a very likely bet when I posted trading around 10.0. By post time it had been backed into 11/4 fav’ and came 2nd. 2 near misses on the day at decent odds with Distingo 2nd by 1 1/2 lengths, and BR falling at the last whilst upsides the eventual winner. Covak also ran well to come a close up third at 18.5.

Then the lights went out at Chelmsford and so ended the day. Back Wednesday late morning.

Who needs Josh (get on with the jolly!!!!) Special thanks to Chris at geegeez for the ratings

    Has Nick fired in again??

Josh will no doubt be adding section 3 at some point but if you are not familiar with them and want a heads up give a shout. If I’m not sure, someone else will be.

    1. haha, appreciated as always Mike, you can keep that up 🙂 You and Chris the tag team. The timings are working ok but who knows how the week may develop!! 🙂

  6. Morning,

Going against Nick is always a forlorn hope, but, go against him I must to stick with the principles I have. I do back all his blind anyways, so, 3 in a race it is then haha.

Hope Kerrow has a good spin out today, think he is being targetted for better things later in the season and at one point was on my radar for a National horse, who knows until we see his first run out for a while.

As always, good luck and hope all horses and jockeys come back safe and sound.

  10. The Emma Lavelle handicappers had an off day yesterday. She has two more today; 1.50 Bangor, Full Irish 10/1; 2.35 Exeter, Gunfleet 7/2.

Gordon Elliott has a full regiment out at Ayr but no Richard Johnson. However he will likely come away with a few winners.

Donald McCain hurdlers at Ayr – 1.10 Lord Springfield; 2.15 Birch Vale.

    Good luck.

  11. Tough day on both Jumps and sand for me today with the market in accordance with almost every race I’ve analysed. Was going to be 2 runners but that turned out to be one when I checked out Charlie Bennett in Kempton handicaps and found he was 3 from 105. (2.86%). Surely know one can be that unlucky. He needs to do punters a favour by not being within 50 miles of Kempton on a race day.

So only the one for me today and that strangely is boosted by the jockey who is 9W from 58 over hurdles and 8 of those came on sharp tracks. So I’m hoping Abbie McCain’s 7lb claim at Bangor (sharp track), can just add that little extra to Morraman’s chances in the 3.30

    Bangor 3.30 Morraman…… 5.0

  12. No bet for me today. Notre Ami put up at 8’s yesterday went off 11/4 and looked to be coming with a winning run 3 out but was easily dispensed with by the winner Forecast.

I realised that I can’t put up e/w bets to BFSP so will do those to the return that I achieve at the general price when I put them up. Wins bets will still be to BFSP. If that makes sense, please comment if there is a simpler way to do it.

  13. Golf Tips –

WTC in Dubai – Ross Fisher, 1 point each way at 35/1. In good form and has previous form in the desert.

RSM in the U.S. – C T Pan, 1 point each way at 22/1. He has course form and has being in good form recently.

No Joy with last weeks tips. Emilio Grillo looked like placing in Mexico but had a bad final nine, The tips are + 79 points to date.

    Good luck.

    1. Grillo backed him a couple of times this year and feel that nerves get the better of him,if he can get the right mindset then he can be a good player.
Almost backed him last week in the end decided to have 2point ew on Finau who failed to deliver which surprised me certainly expected him to be placed sadly not to be.
