  • York day 2.
poor start yesterday and the racing if anything is worse today so just a couple of small ew’s and one for a bit more to win.
3-35. Jfoul 20-1 , backed him lto when finishing 6/20 at York 2 1/2 weeks ago, extra 1/2 furlong should suit and a fair ew shout.
4-05. I keep looking at this and have narrowed it down to 3 Buccaneers Vault 12-1, Related 10-1 and Dougan 8-1 will probably back all 3 with a bit extra on Dougan and a cheeky tricast.
4-40. I do like Banditry 3-1 for this and will have a few quid on, a small ew on Society Red 14-1 just in case.

  • D 4.40 – Finniston farm @ 8
    F 5.00 – Diamond Dougal @ 4
    F 5.35 – The Night King @ 13/2

A blank yesterday. The flat picks have gradually eroded the last coupel of months and I can’t put my finger on why but it’s 1st time for many years that I’ve dabbled on the flat. Might as well complete the season and when the jumps start proper I’ll add some notes to my picks.

  • Just a fun bet post today as I do not have a strong opinion on the Nursery and May Hill at Donc.

    Doncaster September 13th
    Weatherbys £300k Stakes
This is one of those races where weight is decided by median price of sire’s yearlings.
Here are my post race ratings in descending order of those seen.
    Mordred 90
    Kinks 87
    Triggered 85
    The Irish Rover 83
    No Needs Never 80
Dirty Rascal, Almurr, Crantock Bay, 79
    Critical Data 78
    Aim Power 76
    Adam Tiler 73
    Get The Rhythm 72
    Glory 66
Kinks leaps out here as he is one of the bottom weights. My reservation is that he is a true sprint type and the 6.5f may be a stretch too far, also he is fully exposed and seems a tad unlucky.
I suppose the Irish Rover is the most likely winner as Mordred’s form does not look good enough however he got his 90 when seen in Dark Vision’s paddock at Goodwood and is a handsome beast. Hannon is brilliant with these sorts of races as he showed with Ginger Nut in the supersprint and I find him impossible to ignore. I liked Triggered a lot when I saw him on debut and see I have missed his subsequent wins, Spencer is excellent at Doncaster and although I usually avoid him on 2yos will make an exception here.
Fun Bets 1pt win Irish Rover, Kinks, 1pt e/w Mordred and Triggered.

    • I was quite pleased with my fun bet with four from my top eight finishing in the top eight, Aim Power ran to her rating given the weight. Kinks and Triggered were drawn on the wrong side and were never able to get into the race.

Can’t see Rumble Inthejungle getting beaten tomorrow.
