  2. Football – The Championship – Millwall v Derby County. Millwall have a strong first XI but struggle once injuries hit. They lack an out and out goalscorers but are strong at home. We dont know how Frank Lampard will go as a manager yet? I am sure he will get a warm welcome at The Den as a former Hammer. Derby look a bit overrated to me. They scraped a win at Reading and then were well beaten by Leeds. However the 7/5 home win looks a bit skinny to me and so we will lay the home win.
Sheefield United v Norwich City – Last season the home tea average 1.78 points at home, which is not bad. They had a clear out at the end of last season but overall look weaker to me. They have lost to Middlesbrough and beat QPR away. Norwich also had a pre season clear out and are in a state of flux as a club. They have goals in them but also look like conceding. The home win at just above evens looks skinny to me and so I would lay it. I also like both teams to score.

The Premier League – I met up with a football pundit I know last night and we discussed football betting. The Premier League is so over exposed now it is hard to find any betting value there. The Championship is going that way now. However he said that the most profitable bets in the Premier League are – Leicester both teams to score; Palace at home when Zaha plays and Burnley at home 1-0.

    Good luck.

Derby overrated of course they are with Lampard being the manager, they have brought in 9 players so far and you need time for them to settle, the Leeds side have played and been together close to a year.
Reading game the players were nervous and did not want to lose Lampards first game, last season they would have settled for the draw after drawing level, this time they went for the win and got it in the 94 min.
Leeds game sadly will have to see how good they are in time, for the omens were against Derby from the start with Captain Curtis Davis out injured and a 20 year old from Chelsea partnered Donkey Keogh who surprise surprise made a mistake for the first goal, and then the 20 year old Tomori who had only arrived at the club on Thursday made a mistake for the 2nd,which could have destroyed his confidence,Tomori went in the opposite direction for he put up an outstanding performance by the end.
If you are going to the game tomorrow watch the two Chelsea players if they play
      Mason Mount
      Fikayo Tomori
both are looking class already and it will be good to see their progress over the season.
Fullback Max Lowe who came through Derby’s academy started the first two league games but sadly looked wanting at this level will be surprised if he starts tomorrow.

      1. I will be there Colin. We start the game all guns blazing and go for the early onslaught. However if we are not leading after 30 minutes we get a bit negative for a while. We also get a bit shaky in the last ten minutes if we are leading and defend too much. Millwall have no injuries at present and so have no excuses. But the 7/5 home win looks a bit short to me.

  3. For those who are keen on the weekend football punt, the last couple of years I’ve been following RTP Hunter Chase contributor Darran Pearce in the non league market, and with some good results.

The non league betting market is one which is often overlooked by both punters and betting companies and this where Darran is very good at finding value bets. His selections are always very well researched and thought through. It’s early days in the season, with clubs still finding there feet, so if getting involved like everything else ease your way in.

Results for this season are starting to pick up with his midweek bets returning 5/6 and the selection that let down the accumulator was leading 3-1 at one stage!

I’ll probably put a jinx on the bets, but Darran’s selections can be found here, where he post all his weekend/midweek bets, and is happy for me to post this.

    Good luck!

    1. This blog is worth reading from my experience. Not one for big hitters though as there is not the volume in the markets and you will soon get closed down (As I know). You do need a good knowledge of football at this level to bet on it, or you can leave it to guys like Darran and follow him.
