  • Bring on the NH season. 7.55pm looks a decent enough chase. Two I backed at a price last night: All Hell Let Loose and Kylecrue. Both been supported this morning. All Hell Let Loose seems to be running over his best trip on ground that will suit. Trainer in good form. Kylecrue I think was Narrowing the Field, summer selection. Back to last winning mark. Ground and trip should suit. Lasoscar maybe the danger,

On ancient parent duty this weekend so skipping the Shergar and 2yo races but have to post this up. My comments on Sergei Prokofiev post Coventry. I shan’t be backing him odds on but hope that I will feel a warm glow about my Guineas antepost voucher after the race.

Sergei Prokofiev – I’ve posted up a couple of pictures of him. He is a superb specimen, a clear size bigger than anything else in the parade and beautifully proportioned. I think that due to his running a less efficient race than the two in front of him he was beaten here but will eventually rate higher. For the first furlong he was too free and Ryan had to settle him at the back. When he started to make up ground, Frankie on Calyx was doing the same but Sergei P’s run was monetarily held up by Kuwait Station and I Am A Dreamer coming back into him. At the same time Advertise and Calyx were having uninterrupted runs. Having got between the first two as he started to make up ground fast Oisin on Advertise started to drift right toward Vange and Ryan decided to go even further right toward the centre of the course and forfeited another vital couple of yards as Advertise and Calyx continued to run straight. Ultimately he was beaten but he looked like a true Group 1 horse to me. 108

Advertise – Not as complete a model as the first and third, maybe still a fraction downhill at the shoulder and plenty of improvement left. 103

must admit i’m not a fan of the Shergar cup at Ascot and it will be fun bets only there. As for the other 3 races nothing jumps off the page but i’ll have a go anyway.
    Newmarket
15:45 .Pennywhistle 4-1 takes a leap in class here but could be anything and looked interesting that Gosden has entered her here with Frankie on board.
    Haydock.
13:55. Al Destoor 20-1 looks well treated and with nothing else tickling my interest i’ll take a chance on him ew.
14:30.Lincoln Rocks 10-1 is due a big race and this could be it, won’t mind if any rain comes.
    Ascot.
    13-05.Foolad 8-1 and Watchable 12-1
13-40. pin sticking time questions against most in field so i’ll have a stab at Manjaam 16-1 upped in trip.
14-15. Majeed 8-1 Looks very well-handicapped on old form
14-50. Medahim 6-1 to defy top weight again.
15-25. Jazeel 6-1 looked like a step up in trip would suit when winning lto
16-00. Tangled 16-1 i just have a feeling about this one don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet and i’m having a fair sized ew bet.
