York ‘through the card’ content…

From the members’ post below… some notes/pointers/my darts on the York card…. a member is off to the races today with his football team and asked if I would have a flick through. Thankfully they don’t know where I live as there is every chance what follows goes one of two ways! 🙂 Anyway, there are some ‘through the card’ notes/horses that caught my eye, plenty at a price. I rarely have a shocker when doing this, usually finding one or two winners, but they are mainly on mundane weekday cards, where as today’s fare from York is in a different league of complexity. We shall see how they go. Following that are some race by race pointers that I shared…more information for members/readers to use as they please, if planning to attack a race etc…

Let’s get to it…

York

Through the card selections

…for fun money/interest mainly if you are going racing, looks a tough card and i’ve gone with plenty of biggies that could do anything… listed in order of preference, left to right…

1.50 – Mukhayyam UP/ Always Resolute UP (small change, plenty of questions but trainer/jock 3/15,6p together, inc this race in 2015…i thought trip may be too short, class, form questions, but these are funny races…if he wins you’ll hear my screams of anguish from wherever you are, for not being in Section 2)

2.25 – Muntadab 3rd 14/1  / Spanish City  UP 4th/ Above The Rest WON 20/1>16/1

3.00 – Weekender 2nd 10/3>2/1 (if little rain, ground a big question for fav, this one should try and lead, we shall see if he can stay there)

3.35 – Snazzy Jazzy UP / Great Prospector UP/ Encrypted WON 28/1>25/1  (TJ keep popping up with biggies) / Neola UP …. (4 big pokes in a wide open race… at shorter odds, Gabrial The Saint UP and Saxton 4th made list but have gone with the biggest priced ones, and you can’t back them all! And those 6 may not have even touched on a placed horse, let alone the winner!)

4.05 – Duck Egg Blue UP/ Dark Intention UP / Inner Circle UP

4.40 – Jfoul UP

5.15 – Toofi UP/ Suitcase N Taxi UP/ Central City UP (proper flyer, but HP+JG again)

2/17,4p, +33

Best of luck if you follow any of those! 🙂

  2. Today’s 2yo races look as impenetrable as the last couple of days so no bets or analysis. After the embarrassment of my picks yesterday in the 5f race with the rev fc finishing last and second to last and Hollie Doyle on the widest drawn in the 7f race winning then egg on face is the least painful of the outcomes.

One that did catch my eye is in today’s Scurry Stakes at Sandown 2.05.
I saw Youkan on debut at Salisbury last year.

As the picture shows he was one of the biggest 2yos I’ve ever seen and he won easily showing a precocity not expected from one so huge. He beat Jogogo who is only ordinary but was really wizzed up that day for his debut by Mr Evans. I wasn’t really surprised that Youkan did not come out again and thought he was probably injured.
He re-appeared on 20th April and ran 3rd in a class 5 at Bath where he looked a bit green and had a rough passage. He has subsequently been off for another 2 months.
What is surprising is that Mr Kittow now puts him up to a listed class race. He is a great bruising sprint type like his dad Choisir. Mr Kittow is a clever trainer and I don’t think he would be wasting a run if he didn’t think he had the ability.
Looking back I see that I rated him 85 and Sound And Silence who I also saw on debut 84, Koditime who I saw on debut at Doncaster got 83.
So just for fun I shall be having a small e/w on Youkan. Get your eggs ready!

  3. Ok guys my first pick on here,

    Bath 5.20pm Diamond Pursuit 25/1

Sire 6 from 15 or 40% last 365 days in sprint races on firm or good to firm.
I think the horse has been running too far. Back down to 5.5f now.
Last time ran over CD came 2nd off 66 in a 0-76.
Goes off an effective 56 in a 0-64 here.
Admittedly thats adjusting for a 7lb claimer but her last win was a sprint race. other than that i don’t know much about her. Trainer not had a winner since middle of may. But only 13 runs ago. Good Luck if you play.

    1. Good stuff Steven, we like 25s shots in these parts! Best of luck. Had my eye on Indian Pursuit…mainly waiting for him to run back at catterick in a C6. Interesting they come here back in C6 with SDS booked, trainer red hot. 9/2 probably about right those so maybe not value but will try and make all.

  4. Frankie Dettori having missed Royal Ascot last year through injury he has only two rides prior to Tuesday.
    3.00 York Weekender
    Sunday
3.05 Chantilly Luminate for Freddie Head.
No doubt they both will be trying.

  5. I went to York yesterday and had a stinker, not one winner, wish id had time to read this post before i went, bookies cleaned up thats for sure. Weekender was heavily supported on the course but Frankie perhaps got this one wrong, but it was great day out apart from the deluge late on in the afternoon, a good soaking for everyone. Heads a bit heavy this morning mind, but a day at the races is unbeatable.
