Sprint test…

Not too much today…but in the members’ posts I have decided to dip into 5f handicaps every now and then, when time allows, as a sort of test… those musings are below…I’d probably keep your money in your pocket for now, and I will see in time if this approach has any validity

Flat Sprint Test

I thought I’d try and start dabbling again on some sprint handicaps- sticking to 5f only – and just using Geegeez/Inform Speed ratings as my main guide, with some form/profile/trainer/jockey analysis etc. When it’s quiet/I have some time/I can’t find anything to tip in section 2, I’ll try and highlight some horses of interest. I really need to add another string to my bow on the Flat. I wouldn’t necessarily back these as yet, but in time we can see how they do.

3.35 Redcar- Miss DD – 6/1

5.35 Chelm- Elliot The Dragon – 9/2

I’m going to take on the fav/top rated Seductive Moment here. Yes he is a n MJ runner but only cost 12k and the price of 5/2 seems to reflect that and jockey booking. Gunforhire is from the Hannons and the RP trot out the usual ‘how well they do at this course’ comment. GfH is by Alhebayeb who is 0/15 from all runners so far this season. Unfortunately Oloroso ran in the race after the 1,000 guineas where I forgot to take the pictures. My recollection is that he was an odd shape, certainly did not run very well but it was a very hot race and he was not totally disgraced. Andrew Balding like the Hannons has a 19% strike rate with 2yos here, Karl Burke’s is only 10% but Archie Watson certainly sends ones he thinks can win here and has a 40% win strike rate. His runner is Arden Warrior by War Command.

I am a bit of a believer in nominative determinism, so when a 2yo is called Tiny this or Little that I am always suspicious, for this reason Quirky Gertie worries me a bit. Society Shock from Osborne and So Hi Class from Botti both come with trainer debut health warnings. I quite liked Greeley when I saw him on debut but looking at his 2nd outing he was never really put in the race and he does look to have a high head carriage, probably just going for a low h’cap mark today and might be worth looking out for in nurseries.
Urban Icon is the logical choice.

3.05 Once Seductive Moment appeared it was apparent that one of the liitle ones was going to have to be very speedy to take advantage. Unfortunately Arden Warrior was not up to the challenge. A small consolation in that Oloroso was placed to offset the loss. -.8pts on the race.
3.40 Same story here with Urban Icon looking every bit a decent two year old in the paddock. Won fairly easily for a 3pt profit.
    Running total 31.93 pts.
