6/1 Tip at Fakenham + write up

3.45 Fakenham- Washed Ashore – 1 point win – 6/1 (gen) – Ah, UR final fence when coming to make challenge and I’m fairly confident would have won, had jumped well until then, asked up and over-jumped I think, landed too steep, painful punting wise but horse/jockey up which is main thing and I was due one of those.

I am running out of time today so I’ll try and keep this one short… Washed Ashore entered my notebook after that run at Sedgefield where he appeared to appreciate the step up to a marathon trip, and would have been in there pitching at the end were it not for a shuddering error. He is lightly raced over fences and appears best on decent ground. He ran well enough when last seen at Doncaster, probably on softer than ideal ground, and over what now looks to be a trip short of his best- he was staying on late again there. 6/1 seemed worth a poke here for a team who has done well enough in recent days- some sort of consistency maybe, although it’s always a nightmare with Jonjo and I rarely get his horses right! Given the nature of this track, and that they should be confident he will stay after that Sedgefield run, I hope Richie races him more prominently, tracking the pace- provided he is going his speed and is comfortable. Coming from too far back around this course can be hard, especially as more pressure will be asked on the jumping front. He goes well after this length of break and I can only think this has been a target. We shall soon find out. If he runs like he did at Sedgefield and jumps well, he will be right there at the finish, hopefully leading the rest home!

That’s the lot for today. GL with any bets.

Plays Sawgrass very well having won the tournament in 2008 and he is also number one on the tournaments all time money list
Henrik Stenson 1 point ew 28/1 1/5 8 SB BW BFSB Betstars
Another who plays the course well and a previous winner in 2009 ,3rd in the tournaments money list, and he is in fine form with 4th,6th and 5th in his last 3 individual tournaments.

    1. I like Patrick Reed again. I know he only finished 8th last week but that was a nice pipe opener and he goes off here 33/1 and so I will go 1 point each way. I also like Rafael Cabrero Bello at 80/1. Seems a big price for such a good player and we will have 1/1 point each way.

      Good luck.

Patrick Reed is 33/1 for a reason this is not his course he has had only 2 top 25 finishes here,he is class and can win but for me it would be a surprise, the one i am scared of is Ian Poulter he has had a couple of 2nd places here and at 66/1 tempted to have a small flutter.

    1. Hi William,
the competition is the players tournament starting this Thursday in the U.S. Colin gives his fancies (and excellent choices they are) on who’ll do well. He has a very good record and backs them up with his reasons.

  2. Hi William
The tournament is called THE PLAYERS
a little confusing had put after the Golf bets but you probably thought that i was using it to introduce the players to bet on.

  3. Thirsk 1.50
    1. Bengali Spirit, Fastman, Victory Command
    2. Dragon Beat, Mazeo Lad
Ratings Bet .5 pr e/w Mazeo Lad
The Fahey favourite Bengali Dreams has been second twice on heavy and g/s so may well improve enough to take this. Victory Command was born 25th May so is not even 2 yet. Now we know Johnston feeds up and gets them to grow but I think this is asking a lot and he only cost 6k.
Dragon Beat is a 2to out for Tony Coyle and as we have seen twice now with Broken Spear he seems to have difficulty developing them to compete as well 2to. That said both the horse in second on his 3rd place debut wo at the weekend.
Only a Nov Auction and not much to get excited about so I am going to take on the top two in the market with Mazeo Lad. Amy Murphy has shown she can get them ready. Unfortunately I have been busy so late posting this and also missed the 25’s about earlier!

I shall be away from tomorrow until May 20th walking Portugal’s ‘Lands End’ where it is currently 10 degrees colder than here in London.
Probably I will not be able to resist dipping in and out but I’m unlikely to put up more than an occasional fancy.
