Re-cap… only 50 odd weeks until the Festival 2019! Ahem. What a horrid day – well, as horrid days go in the context of simply backing three horses who may still be running! In the grand scheme of life I’ll cope. Nothing positive to report on any of them. That happens but when they don’t run their race it’s annoying- nothing to get excited about quite a way from home. Rubbish. Those days are best forgotten about quickly enough. And when you are hoping ‘unexposed’ horses may improve for doing something different there is a big chance they may not. A jumps season of no ‘notes’ progression continues. The saving grace is that all three get to return home, which sadly I don’t think is the case for poor Isle of Ewe , who was dotting up when coming to grief at the final flight. That put my losers into perspective.

The FLAT… not too much happening on Friday and it’s the time of year I research each track as and when the meetings appear – until I get time to box off some hard research hours. Do acclimatise yourselves with the ‘advised strategies’ – (link as per Key)

I’d start/focus on numbers 1, 4 and 6 I think – I am particularly excited to see if S6 can repeat/build on last season, but time will tell. As always I would start very small with the hope of building up over time. We shall see if ES+ ‘double/treble’ rated can join the party on the Flat, and w1, w2. And we have my ‘notes’, touch wood.

Sir Roderic Bath 16:00 1pt e/w-I think most of these are either unproven on the ground or will need the run. I am off to dinner tonight so sorry about the lack of a write up and off to Florence in the morning until Tuesday for a few days holiday away from the nags.
Enjoy Florence! I struggled to find a bad bottle of wine, but I suppose that’s a fun challenge for you haha.
I am all about prosecco so I shouldn’t have any problems!
Josh reckons there’s not much happening tomorrow. Well I beg to differ lol! As it’s AW Championships day tomorrow I couldn’t resist. I’ll post up two tips per race. No odds, not strictly qualifiers against my stats, just for fun. Even ITV have sent the cameras to Lingfield and Newcastle for a fun filled afternoon of dirty racing!
1.30 War Glory & Eljadaaf
2.00 Funny Kid & Watersmeet
2.30 Mia Tesoro & Zest
3.05 Kachy & Intisaab
3.40 Corinthia Knight & Never Back Down
4.10 Goring & Arcanada
4.40 Master The World & Mr. Owen
After that I’ll slink back into my cave 🙂
Good Luck
Haha well of course! It would be a bit odd of me to pay little attention to the AW all winter only to dive in now! I’ll leave it to the likes of you,Colin and others. GL
Hi Ken, you are just like Lawrence of Arabia, you cannot stay away from the sand. I bet you travel by camel.
Nothing from me today, early kick off at The Den, Millwall v Forest. Premier League here we come. My two tips did not win yesterday which takes us down to 9 points profit in March but £40 down on bets.
Good luck.
Ken & Josh, I agree with both of you! There isn’t a great deal going on tomorrow but at least the AW is decent quality at Lingfield so you’re both right!
I had a spare half hour so I went for a few positives and negatives with Trainer, Jockey and Sire stats just for a bit of one off fun really…..
I came up with this motley crew where I’ll be throwing £2 each at on the nose providing they’re above 4.5 on BF…
13:30 Silent Echo
14:00 Red Verdon
15:05 Double Up
15:05 Gifted Master
15:05 Gulliver
15:40 Desert Doctor
16:10 Mr Scaramanga
16:40 Abe Lincoln
16:40 Utmost
I certainly won’t be making a habit of putting selections up I’m not good enough and don’t want to be either! No matter how well these do, just playing for a bit of fun on a relatively quiet day with racing and work.
With no jumps today I thought I’d try get back into the flat turf groove with a longer distance race. I prefer the stayer races on the flat or 7f races as they can be right conundrums. 4:35 at Bath is where I’ll start my flat racing from. By no means are these tips, I will need a few races to get my turf hat on. These are more the final list of horses I would pick from.
I always like to avoid the top of the market, prefer a loser at high odds than a favourite at short odds. So from that I have three that catch my eye:
Quothquan (14/1 gen): Last four over hurdles in which he placed each time. Clearly coming today with some form and having won over 1m 6f in heavy going at Salisbury while carrying 7lb more than today, he has to be in with a chance. Reckon each way merits are more than likely but would not surprise me if he won
Eddiemaurice (16/1 Coral, 14/1 gen): Has been kept fit by running over hurdles since his last race on the flat, although his last two starts have been a bit dismal. He’s mainly a consideration because he was beaten by a neck in this race last year, although a lb lower, and has had much the same preparation as he did to claim second. May be nowhere near at the end but he may be worth a punt
Sir Pass I am (18/1 Wh, 16/1 gen): The one I think could surprise but then again he will probably come last. Has won over 2m on good to soft ground although his first time out record is not something to get excited about I just think he is slightly over priced and may be worth a small punt.
I reckon the winner will be from the top of the market but if they have an off day these are the three I would be considering.
I will note one other was close to being considered but decided against him for the final shortlist, watch one of them outperform the three above. Harry Hunt, he may vie for the places but that is it in my opinion.
There are plenty of differing opinions on the L 4.40 today i noticed , therefore i thought i would muddy the waters a bit myself as ive backed BATTLE OF MARATHON (20/1 available last night) .. only beaten a length or so by one of todays market leaders in Master of the world (9/2 )… Kirby takes the ride today which caught mt attention . There has been some interest in it this morning (14/1 B365 now) … at the price i thought it was each way value at least .
Risky putting my head above the parapet with all these AW experts about … 🙂
Good Luck All
