Big Meadow – 1.5 point win – 8/1 (gen) UP
Jennys Surprise – 1 point win – 9/1 (gen) WON 9/1> 7/1 (20pR4, 7/1 winner)
Big Meadow… I thought 8/1 was generous enough but it appears he’s lost a leg overnight and is now 11/1 across the board, which leaves me a bit bemused. This horse hacked up LTO winning with ears pricked. I think he could have gone around again. He jumped well, galloped, stayed and handled heavy. It could be that he didn’t beat much and this is a step up in class. But he comes here in form, fit and is unexposed. He’s appreciated the removal of the cheekpieces. There should be more to come and he deserves to take his chance. I also thought they may try and make all with him. We shall see whether he is good enough to lead this field but in any case he should be in the right spot. Given his profile I thought he looked overpriced, but I’ve clearly got that wrong! Fingers crossed I get a run for my money.
Jennys Surprise.. a repeat of that Uttoxeter run would put her right in the mix here. Her yard has bounced back to form in recent weeks, 4/10,6p the last 14 days, and I thought she may do so too. Her PU LTO was in a deep race, awful ground and I suspect she hated the CP. They have been removed and she’s had a short break. The Wincanton race may have come too soon after the win, given that was on the back of her first run in a year. I think there are valid excuses for those two runs and just thought 9s was a tad generous if she could run to her best.
The Tim Vaughan horse is the one to beat but he has to prove his stamina in heavy, is usually held up and has had 62 days off or so. With that in mind I didn’t think 4s was overly generous.
