Some ‘through the card notes’ from my Members’ post… if members’ are going racing I am happy to flick through a card and offer up any thoughts, sometimes it goes very well, other times not so well. Below is ‘part 1’ which are pointers based on trainer stats having flicked through the card using HRB. These are starting points, to use how you please.

  1. Ian

how on earth did that win ??

STEEL NATIVE won 4/1 (SP2a sel)…6th nearly a mile out, pushed along, running on the outside of the field for every bend

young Jonjo is certainly an accomplished claimer, well worth the allowance

I never gave it a chance when they turned into that long straight….my race-reading needs to improve

    1. Nice one Ian, Steel Native never in doubt. It was a shame Fiscal Space ran out of steam on the run in and was unplaced. Had the winner anyway.

  2. Thanks for the info, been out shopping and nice to hear of a winner.

I did to be honest pick it purely on stamina angle here and the fear was they would get the pace right bang on and he’d never get back to them, but stamina is so important at FL and I have a tracker note about Jonjo Junior riding a few like that and getting it spot on…

Nice when a plan comes together, bit more for the pot!

  3. Another day spoilt by some tragic news, hear we have lost Johnny Delta, after a bad fall at Musselburgh. Fantastic dual purpose horse who was always a joy to watch. Gutted and commiserations to connections.
