1.35 Winc – Wizards Bridge – 1 point win – 6/1 (PP/BV) 11/2 (general) UP 6/1>3/1 *

Ah bugger, one of his off days, 6s about a 3s shot the only slight positive there.

I think Wizards Bridge should be a couple of points shorter here and I don’t really know why he is a bigger price than the Pipe horse, but we will find out soon enough one way or the other. He does look the solid options here. I think he has the best recent form, has won off higher marks in the past and has competed from marks in the low 130s, Tizzard is arguably in his best form of the season to date and I think there is a chance he makes all- or tries to…the option is there for someone. In any case he should be in the perfect spot. He ticks plenty of boxes here and if he repeats that last run from Exeter I think he is the one to beat. As such I thought he was a shade too big against my interpretation of his chance. We shall see if I have got that right….

Of the others… Jennys Surprise may win but I, and with any luck a few members to boot, backed her the last day when winning at a decent BFSP…sadly she won’t be that price today. She deserves her place at the top of the market but I am happy to take her on. She may ‘bounce’, this being her second run after a year off – and that was a hard enough race the last day. She is also usually held up out the back and at some point will have to close on the leaders, unless say Wizards Bridge falls in a hole which isn’t impossible. She may win and i’ll be able to live with that, at her price. Pipe’s seems short enough to my eyes. He is another hold up horse who takes a step up in class here and has to prove he can win from this rating, having been hit hard for his win two starts ago. He is lightly raced over fences and may do just that – but i’d like a bigger price to find out. Pink Gin is another who is interesting but again the price didn’t seem overly generous. Rated 108 he will need to step up plenty here and also hope a few in this don’t run to anywhere near their marks. That is always possible. He is inexperienced/unexposed over fences and takes a rise in class. I doubted whether he would be good enough and I wanted a bigger price to find out. I wouldn’t fall off my seat in shock if he went close, as with most in here! I was happy to leave the other two for one reason or another.

The Wizard should give me a run for my money and hopefully he is in there pitching jumping the last. He can have his own ideas about the game sometimes so you’d never want to take a short price about him, but he was big enough here for me. GL.

  1. For those that get my daily tips/message, I mentioned this morning; in addition to tips, 2 runners today that I have a small share in, VERSIFIER at Leicester 2.15 and DON’T ACT UP at Leicester in the 3.25.

Just had an update from Ian Williams Racing Club that DON’T ACT UP won’t run if Going turns heavy (he has alternative entries next week) and they will make a decision after first race. So, if you were considering a small punt, best to hold fire.

I have to say communication from IW team is as outstanding as the progress of the yard over the past few years.

  2. Football – Gutted to see the back of the Champions League group stages as always a good source of bets. On the exchanges last night just before 7 PM someone posted £800K lay Liverpool at 1.22. I guess it was an Asian syndicate? Anyway it did not get traded (I was waiting for 1.25 which never came). They save themselves a few quid! Anyway Shakhtar did the business at 9/4. The money gambled on football dwarfs any sport.

In the Europa League I like Villareal at 4/5 at home and Arsenal should see off Bate (posted on the exchanges at 1.5). I wonder what team Everton will put out this evening in Cyprus ahead of the scouse derby? Big Sam has not travelled, he has a Doctors appointment and no doubt a note from his mum.

  3. I love it when a plan comes together! My Politologue 8/1 is looking good now that as I guessed Douvan has come out for Saturday. I only need Fox Norton to not fancy it and a licence to print money. Will lay on the day anyway for a tasty free bet. It is amazing what value you can get on a Monday for the following Saturday even if all stand their ground.

    1. Excellent stuff Martin.
I agree about value on the Monday for the following Saturdays races.
Am very interested who is declared for the long walk hurdle at Ascot.

Thistlecrack wont go there of course
Harry was well beaten by Beer Goggles at Newbury and
I don’t think the Irish will bring anything over so could be a few errors pricing up.
would be interested on you opinion first show.

Think Harry will be favourite but could be some big value
      in the others

      1. How much is Sam Spinner improving? L’ Ami Serge will stay and may have a going day. I do not think that there will be much Irish turnout. Lil Rockefeller is not a prolific winner and so I would ignore for this at the price. Uknow is there to be shot at as he is good but no world beater and could come out anyway.
