Free Daily Post: 12/07/17 (complete)

just the July trainer today…

Well that was a fun trip to Pontefract with a couple of good racing friends. Much fun was had by all. Ben put up a few winners on his blog I believe and I managed to chip in with winners at 5/2, 6/1, 2/1, 12/1 and seconds at 5/1 and 25/1. (a handful of losers also) Pontefract is a lucky track for me it seems. Hopefully you backed one or more of those. Ben and I also met a subscriber to both our services which is always great. He lumped on Mysterial and went home happy I think! (well we all did after he fought back for a game win)

Anyway, moving on. I am staying over Ben’s for the evening and I doubt I’ll have time to add anything of use here for Wednesday’s racing. I have repeated my Mark Johnston July qualifiers below, from the Members’ post. These have found 4/1,9/2 and 20/1 winners so far this month…

July Trainer (any odds)

5.55 Kemp – Kingsley Klarion

6.55 Kemp – Fiendish

**

That will be all for today. I need to get on and complete my Big Meeting Notes for the July Meeting.

GL with any bets.

  1. 2 point win Vocal Activity 2.15 Dundalk 1 mile claimer 11/4 Generally

Vocal Activity ran a decent race in the same grade last time and the step up to a mile should suit
the main danger Specific Gravity is better over further and Seanie ran a stinker last time
Opt out struggles over this trip and Burn the boats seems to have gone backwards.

    Summary
Vocal Activity showed he has the ability to win a small claimer and the step up in trip will help.

3.20 Catterick 5f two year old claimer
2 point win Devil or Angel 5/1 generally and 1 point e/w Placebo effect 14/1 bet 365 12/1 generally

All about taking on the favourite in this race.
Tie em up Tel did hack up last time at Windsor but that was over 6f in a lesser race
and while he maybe improving hand over fist 11/8 seems poor value.

Devil or Angel ran a good 5th in a much better race and is bred for 5f
so from the plum draw in 1 must have a great chance

Placebo effect also looks very big at 14/1, outclassed last time in a 9 grand seller at York
this is his grade and he finished in front of the favourite 2 races ago and is a pound better off
the favourite is 11/8 and he is 14/1 so the value lies with him Ollie Pears is a shrew trainer at this level and the price looks to big.
Either way looking to take on this favourite who is 0-3 over 5f and has a wide draw in nine to overcome

Review of yesterday Pushkin Museum ran an honest race but his consistency wasn’t good enough to
overturn the favourite who won very easily.
leaving us 8 points down from opening day.

  2. Posted on Saturday about Roger Varian’s 1st time headgear runners, and after another 2nd (16s>10s), the most recent ones now read : 2-1-2-2-1-1-2.
He has another one today: 8.25 Kempton, St. Malo, 7/2.

As mentioned yesterday, Hannon seems to be doing well with runners in first time cheekpieces/blinkers albeit the one yesterday hung badly and finished unplaced (11/2>5/2 R4 30p).
Since taking over from his father in 2014 he has a 20% strike rate, +76 BFSP. This year it is 28% strike rate, +20 BFSP.
He has another one today in 2.45 Catterick, Lexington Grace, 11/2.

    🙂
