2.Any ‘Notes’ (‘bet of the day’ + any other notes)

Bet of The Day…  (test) (Flat: 2/22,12p, +1.8) (Jumps: 8/54, +25.5) (total: 10/76, +26.3)

None. None of those above are really leaping out at me, at the prices. 5.45 Ham- Thorntoun Care is interesting I suppose but he is relying on the fav hating the ground- which is possible, if he handles it he probably makes all and hacks up- and also the change of headgear working. He is a low grade animal and 6s couldn’t tempt me in personally. All those in the 5pm have questions to answer and they all look a bit out of sorts. Some big prices and maybe one will leave me red faced but on paper I was struggling a tad to make a compelling case.

NEW REPORT: TTP Summer Stats: The Elite Squad:   READ HERE>>>

Please have a flick through the report above and have a look at the ‘qualifying’ rules. I will highlight qualifiers in section 1 using Italics Bold and track the qualifiers.

  • Jersey Breeze would have been an ‘elite’ qualifier at Brighton on Tuesday, having just checked-just won shade cosily also G1, 9/2. As did All You who came a decent 2nd at Bev, 12/1. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

My ‘Fancies’

Running total: 0/3,2 places, minus 1/2 point after day 1

Hmm. Nothing much is catching my eye today in truth. As noted in the free post I like El Vip and GK Chesterton in the 5pm and have thrown £5 at each of them, but you can’t be too bullish in a race like that. None of Johnny Gs in that race look like betting propositions to my dodgy eye. From the ‘qualifiers/notes’ above Gymnaste probably looks most interesting in the 5.35 but is 7/1 in a 24 runner race, unproven over the distance. She could be decent though and relish it. I did also note that those fillies with 2 handicap wins to their name are 5/19,9 places, +20 in this race in the last 20 years, 3/6,5p the last 4 meetings. Michael Bell’s Cheval Blance 28/1 is the only qualifier- albeit this race usually goes to those near the top end of the market , indeed 19/20 were 12/1< sp – maybe Gymnaste is the one for last year’s winning trainer. And CB is out of the handicap, effectively 13lb higher than LTO etc. Worth change EW maybe. Could lead down the nearside and cling onto  a place. I probably won’t resist having some change on that lot and if I keep my discipline that should be the lot at Ascot- I don’t like the look of much else at the prices. Maybe I should get off the fence with some ‘tipping’…

5.00 – El Vip  8/1 / GK Chesterton 16/1 – 1/2 point EW each (2 point total) (shop around, 5 places/6 places… ‘declared’ to 5 places)

5.35 – Gymnaste  1 point win 7/1 / Cheveal Blance 22/1-28/1 – 1/2 point EW (2 point total) (5 places in 4/5 bookies)

That’s the lot for today, any fancies?

  1. Hey Josh,

Not a bad first day for the Ascot stats. I did have a play on them two 100/1 shots too from the free post, get in last page Paddy paying out on 5th place so a nice 20/1 🙂

    1. Hi Gavin,
Good to hear. Yep I may have had a little tickle on that 100/1 shot (£2.50 EW!) for a bit of fun with PP. My three main fancies from the stats ran well enough, couple of decent placed efforts. And a couple of decent winners from the ‘notes’ – Thomas Hobson made this mornings 6s looks quite decent in the end.
The ‘trainers in form’ had a decent enough day also- Haggas (big priced place horse nearly won) Appleby and Mullins.
We shall see what day 2 brings. All a bit of fun.

      1. I had Lady Aurelia as part of the stats at 4/1. There are a few today to have a go at. The races are so competitive at the meeting. I have also backed Highland Reel and Qemah.

    1. Ohh super. I should clarify the odds as a ‘guide’… bigger than 20/1 ‘only’ 0/6,0 places before that place. I can’t say I had a penny on but well done, that will pay for a few bets/beers!
