a couple of ‘pace’ angles…

No micro system quals etc… so

A couple of horses of interest today...

2.50 Bangor- Whos De Baby… WON 7/1 (after 20p R4)

I am a bit on the fence with this one which is never a good place to be but i thoughts 9s/8s looked an ok price. The way in was ‘pace’ in the sense that I thought he might dictate here/get an easy lead. And for chasers that is always dangerous/always the best place to be. He is a 12 race maiden over fences but has placed on five of those and that last run was decent. It was in a 0-120 and he was 14lb or so out of the handicap. He didn’t have much chance but in first time blinkers ran with credit. This is a 0-105 and he gets to run off effectively an 11lb lower mark. There is also a jockey change with Robbie Dunne taking over- he has been seen to good effect from the front on chasers, esp for V Williams down the years. I thought there was enough to go on for a small nibble. Playing in novice handicap chases is asking for a bloody nose, which is what i will probably get. But those are my thoughts in what looks an open enough race.

7.35 Sand- Hold Sway…

Made all for his Maiden win LTO and may do the same here. 10/3 is a tad short for me personally but I am a useless judge at that end of the market and I thought I would highlight the pace angle- on recent runs it looks like he could get an easy lead if he wanted it. The yard could not be in better form, they have a decent record here, and like most in this race there is much more to come from him. Seems to handle cut also.

Do with that as you please!

Good luck with any bets today,

Josh

    2.75 Utterly Charming
2 Olive Mabel 1.5 Star Of Siena 0 Retained
Preview – With Validator drawn 1 only the unraced Glaceon and Utterly Charming or Looks A Million look to have any chance of getting close to her at all.

    Prior race notes
Looks A Million – Probably long term the best, only top end of small but well made. Typical Tuite debut, not quite the nouse or race fitness to get fully involved. 74

2.25 Excellent Times, Peggy’s Angel, Snoop
    1.75 Fenagh 1 Harbour Rose
Preview – If the ground allows Ertiyad to run I can’t see this being anything other than a formality.

    Prior race notes
Ertiyad – Medium sized, athletic. Best looker in the field, a bit green and clueless in the early stages which probably made the difference. More of the Rizeena model but not quite as rangy. Whilst Mrs G and the third, Out Of The Flames were both given reminders she received a hands and heels ride. 89
