2.Any ‘Notes’ (‘bet of the day’ + any other notes)

none. Not because I have looked through and don’t like anything, more that the Hungarian beer is getting in the way! 🙂

3.Any general messages/updates etc

Nice to see a +27 point day on my maths for ‘all flat qualifiers’. That isn’t an advised approach but nice to see them have their first proper big priced winner 25/1>16/1. A few more would be welcome. I see Laidback Romeo won, no idea if his BFSP was 11.00+ ?? To qualify as a #1 angle that way. I am not betting on this trip, mainly due to time really/no chance to look at horses, but hope some of you may have backed them.

Your help… would be welcome on any ratings pointers 10/1 or bigger across bookies in morning. I will endeavour to add prices in the morning, 9ish (10 my time) but as I try desperately to cling to my ‘youth’ it is quite possible a ‘heavy’ evening may be in store. We did go to a superb Spa today though. If you have never been to Budapest it is recommended. My 3rd visit I think and while I tend to see the same bars over and over again, it is a great place more generally!

Back Friday morning. (my thanks for Mike who has provided the qualifiers above and has saved me a fair chunk of time, as he is doing for my whole trip, albeit digging out the ratings took a while!)

  1. how come josh you have selections for /3yo/4yo/
wher have them come from … there not hcp
    thanks russ

    1. Hi Russ,

All races except 1st t/o 2yo are hc’s for 3yo+ and 4yo+ with the bonus races being 3yo only hc’s. I should have realised it could be confusing for anyone who hasn’t got a stat pack.

  2. Three for me tomorrow. Firstly Viking Mistress looks a decent bet in the 20:50 at Worcester. She has been running consistently well this year without getting her head in front. Her last race has worked out very well with the winner following up, 5th and 11th winning and 7th and 8th winning 2 in a row. She gets to race against just her own sex here in a far easier race. It looks like she didn’t quite stay LTO so a drop in trip should help. On top of that she gets the services of Dickie for the first time.

I also like the look of Stellarta in the 16:55 at Goodwood. Has gone close this season and likes the track with 2 places and a close 3rd in 3 starts including a very good 4th from the wrong side of the track in the Stewards Cup consolation race last year. She is at her best on fast ground in a decent field and there is a hell lot of pace in this race. Obviously the trainer concern is a slight worry but I thought she was overpriced. Harry Bentley was an eye-catching booking. (1/5, 4p in handicaps for the trainer)

Moving to Haydock I want a bet on Intimate Art in the 16:40. Ran well for a long way LTO in a hot class 2 before fading late on. (needed his first run last year also). He should come on for the run. The first 8 home were drawn 9 or higher so there was clearly a bias. The winner went close in another class 2 off 5lbs higher, the 3rd won a class 2 off 6 lbs higher, the 4th and 5th both won class 3s. The selection drops down into a class 4. He is one of the few here who will definitely be ridden prominently which will suit at the track. Andrew Balding has been flying in recent weeks.

    1. One non-runner, one which went close to placing and one which absolutely hosed up. Hope some of you were on.

  4. my FB post.
i was going to do a run through of the card at Bath today as i’m stopping in this afternoon waiting for engineer to fit my Sky Q (yippee) but the racing is so poor not really worth it so just a few highlights, bets are to minimum stakes just for fun.
1-40. GO AMBER GO ,goes for the hat-trick today retains blinkers should take this, 2-1 win.
2-10. probably best watched but GO BANANAS 25-1 ew has top sprinter royal applause in her pedigree and a little ew for fun.
3-20.not much to go on form wise so it’s down to trainer jockey combos, KINSEY 16-1 hannon/doyle and PENNINGTON 12-1 johnstone/morris both ew.
5-05. Prendergast Hill should win but at 6-4 no value but i’ll have a couple of quid to win.
5-35. if you forget his last run EUGENIC 13-2 should have a big say in this looking at last years form.

  5. As far as the Dascombe horses are concerned, the bigger the prices the better, year after year the bookies throw us presents here, bagged a 50/1 this meeting last year,33-66-50sp

    1. Whisht G,,,,, don’t let the cat out of the bag….lol
Tony Mc…already backed his lot. lol

        1. As you say Gearoid…i went out to an engagement of my G/daughter…terribly pissed but checked when i got poured home…I only looked at my bookie balance…YeeeeaH nice one…

  6. Dascombe has just the one handicapper out tomorrow 5.40 Arc Royal, big price at 28/1 Bet365,will get a big priced one at some stage here during season but probably not this one,but who knows
