Bet of The Day (Test)

(Flat: 1/7,5p, +8)

(Jumps: 7/43, +27)

8.20 Windsor – CAPE DISCOVERY – 1 point win – 8/1 (general)

8/1 seems rather big here to my eye. He ticks plenty of boxes. He is 2/5 on the turf and there could be more to come at some point, those two wins at this course, one over CD. He has won at the course, class and distance (well, over 12f) and he is 1lb below his last winning mark. 14 days ago he returned here after a three month break and he led for a way- he then got in a pace battle, led again, before fading. Evidence suggests that he may have done too much on the front end, and in any case may have needed the run to a point. Having looked at the pace I think the lead is his if he wants it, if the oppo adopt usual tactics, which you hope is the case. Of course something else may try and take him on but hopefully he can dictate. He doesn’t have to lead and in any case will be in the right spot, no excuses. Something else in here could have more in hand-  Hannon’s maybe- but at 8/1 I won’t be talking myself out of a bet based on fear of the oppo, that isn’t the point really. He should be spot on here and provided he doesn’t go too quick again (which in any case could be a tactic to help get his mark down!) he should be thereabouts.

That is all for ‘bet of the day’. The point of section 2 is not for me to put you off anything else, rather highlight those that I like best at the prices etc. So, don’t take the fact that something else isn’t in here as a negative as such, albeit clearly I have found reasons to leave them for ‘bet of the day’ purposes. You may find reasons to be with them.

Oh, as an aside… in the 3.50 Stratford… DESERT STING – speaking to a friend who knows his PtP form, apparently this one looks absolutely thrown in and could hack up here. He has pointed me to a few winners in recent months and I have had a nibble at 9/2. Money seems to be coming. We shall see how he goes. Do with that as you please.

Irish Stats…

Don’t forget to read my last ‘research article’ with a brief look over the Irish Sea. Gerry highlighted these in yesterday’s comments, and he was referring to this article HERE>>>>

There are no ‘qualifiers’ today, against those stats. I don’t plan on highlighting them regularly but you are free to use them how you please, and comment away if you back anything using them 🙂

That is all for today. The Results post will be completed today. You can find that HERE>>>

  3. Desert Sting has had a wind op, beat Restless Harry in its last point who would look good here off 80 or less. Now 7/2

      1. Yep that was fun… the pointing boys have had it right off there I think! Never in much doubt- slight wobble after the last but had plenty in hand. I do like when the money is down and they make all.

        1. Yeah Darran mentioned him last night. I suspect the front two are well clear on ratings but the 3rd plugged on well enough with them most of the way so might get missed NTO given he was 10 lengths down in the end.

          1. Yep I missed his email, would have had more on if I had read that, two independent pointing sources. They were clearly spot on. It looked a poor enough race in truth.

          2. That’s the reminder I needed – I’ve been meaning to hunt out the post with details of Darran’s service. Do you mind me asking how it’s been going Nick? And Josh, have you got a note of his email details anywhere handy?
