Horses of interest…

4.30 Catterick… Lackaday.. 6/1

I am interested to see how this one goes here. I was drawn in due to the pace- while he may not get an easy lead I think he will be up there and in the right spot. He is also a sprinter in form, who is fit, having returned for his new yard at Newcastle LTO. He ran well there and kept on. The horse just in front of him that day came and won NTO. Last year, for his old yard, he won this very race in decent fashion off OR 65 (with 5lb claim) and comes here today off OR58. He is undoubtedly well handicapped and it must be of some interest that his new connections send him here. He is 1/2 in C6 races on turf, this seems to be his level and his new trainer could get more out of him. Aged 5, he may not be done with yet. G Lee is 2/13,5p in C6 CD handicaps here, another positive. So, I thought there were a few pointers of interest there. 6s may just be ok, shame he isn’t bigger. I will have a small play in which to test out my ‘flat’ eyes.

Fahey/Hanagan/Nottingham…

In the last 5 years they are 4/10,7 places (inc wins) all runners at the track.

They have two today, Blue Suede 7s, and Snookered 12s

2.20 Blue Suede... looks most interesting, just based on that last run where he came second. There were 6 horses in that race, and he is the only one yet to run since. ALL of the other have won at least once. Indeed the other 5 have ran 18 times, winning 10, placing in another three. The winner came and won two since, his last victory in a C3 off OR88. That makes his mark of OR78 of interest here. That race is very ‘hot’ form and he looks worth a look to my dodgy flat eyes. The market may guide as to what is expected but you would think he will show himself to be much better than this mark in time, especially given how that nursery has turned out. Clearly 3yo only handicaps are fraught with danger, but he looks interesting.

  1. I have posted my review of yesterday’s 2yo race at Lingfield in yesterday’s Free Daily Post as a reply under my preview. The plan for races that I attend is to post a words only review as a reply, usually on the same day. Josh will then publish a weekly review with pictures.

  2. Nice to get a couple of winners on Monday. Mega busy at work so Brain a little frazzled so these will be shorter than normal. I am on three today.

Firstly at Fontwell looked a solid e/w bet I thought. Has been running consistently and returns to his favourite track and gets his favourite jockey back. All the conditions suit and I’d expect him to be there or thereabouts and I thought 9/1 was a solid enough bet.

Moving to Catterick and I think Cruisetothelimit can follow up in the 17:30. Won his first aw race last time out but all his past wins have been on the flat. He is only 3lbs higher but still 21 lbs below his last winning weight. He loves it here and has one win and three places from three runs over course and distance. Trainer is in good form with 2 wins from his last 4 runners. He has a decent draw and should be able to blaze from the front.

In the 16:30 I want an e/w bet on Masarzain. During his last race on the flat he won at the track in a race which has worked out well. Has since been running on the aw. Returns to the flat off a nice looking mark. His new trainer applies the blinkers and calls upon the services of Mulrennan who has place for him in his last three flat handicaps. This race is filled with horses who haven’t had any success in the flat and Lackaday’s win here came on soft ground. His sire’s progeny do well at the track. I thought 16s was overpriced in a race like this.

    1. Good luck Nick…have you omitted the horse/race time at Fontwell?

Lackaday – ground a question but had placed maiden form on good/good to firm, and his subsequent runs on good were at a higher class,so which may have been the issue rather than the ground. But, could be he needs soft. I had a small interest and will take a closer look at yours. GL.

  3. Just a quick note to say that a profitable AW/Flat tipster that I follow has NAP’d Blue Suede for today. He uses a speed model taking into account previous speeds at the weight they were ran at. hopefully today’s pick can take us to Graceland (sorry) 😉

    1. haha – he seems a bit weak in the market which is a disappointment, although still early days on that front. A long way to go to own a Graceland of my own!! Hopefully he adds to the pot 🙂

      1. Strange move in the market, I got 14s last night, looks to have come in and then drifted back a point or 2.

      2. My main tipster has tipped him up also. I think he is undoubtedly well treated just not keen on tipping horses with no past record of running well off a break. I suspect that Fahey/Hanagan stat might be less key this season given he is back as Fahey’s no 1 so will get a larger portion of his rides. The price is still 20% higher than it was around 8PM given it dropped by 60% in places last night.

  4. Hi Josh can you help I seem to have more than one subscription can you cancel so I have only one left ?

    Peter
