3.Any ‘Notes’ (subjective views mainly, on some of the qualifiers)

No ‘bet of the day test ‘ as such, as I can’t really make up my mind but there are some interesting ones… Action Dancer is the biggest priced one on the day so far and the market can guide with his handicap hurdlers, if he comes in under 14s, to 12s, 8s , then maybe a better show is expected. He is lightly raced and the trainer is now in some form, when he has been quiet for a long time. At that price I will have a nibble, not as much as I would on a RP 10/1+ I doubt but at that price I may roll the dice. I can’t think why he would suddenly improve unless he has had a wind op for example or was just a sick horse if there were stable issues- I’m guessing there. If he is sent off over 12s I probably won’t be expecting much.

Robin of Locksley caught the eye – first run for Bailey having got him from the Skelton’s and she is 2/7,3p with new recruits from other yards in the last 2 years. She is also in cracking form – 4/7,5p last 14 days. I am on the fence a tad as to whether 7s is ok or not. The horse has struggled to settle but maybe a change of operation will help- it is about that C3 Cheltenham run. If he somehow got back to that level he may make 7s look rather generous.

Carli King – again i can’t make up my mind mainly as this ground looks to be testing ,plenty of heavy in places, which he has never raced on. On the flip side I thought they may try and make all and he does stay well. If he handles the ground he may go close here, if building on that last run. Looks an open race.

Finally Robin Why Not makes handicap debut for Hawke and this seems to be a new trick up his sleeve, 2/12,4p with such types in the last year. He couldn’t be in better form either and maybe this one will burst into life on handicap debut.

So, those 4 look interesting to me and I may have some nibbles on them. Not overly confident ones but they all look interesting to a point, just, at their prices. Knowing my luck they will all tail off and the rest, unmentioned, will win.

Good luck with whatever you go with, if anything. No ‘RP 10/1+’ shots at the moment for the ultra disciplined among you 🙂

  1. A long distance traveller qualifier.

    M/Rasen 5:10 – Robin Why Not 8/1 (18/1 max)

Trainer is 8/19 at the track under this micro, and I see Josh has also mentioned it above.

    4 wins from 11 runners
    LSP +0.35 pts @ SP

Also have Arctic Lady in the War. 2:50 for a micro for horses gaining first win in HCP chase (7/1 WH). Trainer is 13/26 under the conditions (+46 pts).

    1. Nope I had a good go at him in the end. Bit annoyed I didn’t make him ‘bet of the day’ as I pondered he was most interesting… still young/unexposed yet with some decent form in the book already. Supporting trainer stats with form and trainer change angle and top 3 Geegeez. Just removing the splinters! But I did back him. Available at 10s last night possibly.
