Geegeez Gold…

Well no TJCs of interest today, and yesterday’s didn’t do much although the Honeyball runner went well and maybe one to watch NTO. Many of his with that profile can be punted off the boards but he wasn’t, staying steady around 8/1- looked likely to go very close at one stage but could only manage 3rd. His canny trainer will win some handicap hurdles with him no doubt. (or is it a her..)

Anyway…

One trainer stands out today on the ‘1st run in a handicap’ report…

1.50 Donny… Generous Day... 9/1… (4th 8/1…and a fairly distance enough 4th, not really backed as hoped, maybe the rain didn’t help,or maybe not good enough..but certainly showed enough and will hack up in a weak handicap hurdle one day no doubt…) may be worth some support. If he is well backed then strap yourselves in, if he isn’t, maybe today isn’t the day. The money can talk for this yard. Henry Oliver is 6/12,7p with handicap debutants in the last 2 years, +32 SP. Shrewd. He is 0/1,1p at Donny with such types. He has shown glimpses of ability but has struggled to stand up on a couple of occasions. He was showing promise in that Bangor run. And heavy ground may be the excuse for the last day. He will have been running in those races to ‘gain experience’ and if we are to see more from him, it could be today. Of course he may just be devoid of ability and he will run some ok races, drop into C5, then hack up! The trainer does like his C5 handicap hurdles, the gambles in those have paid for many a Christmas party I imagine!

One to keep an eye on in what looks a shocker of a race.

That will be all for today.

Remember, if you want to test run Geegeez Gold for 2 months for just £20 you can do so HERE>>>

I believe this offer closes on Tuesday so don’t be sitting on the fence for too long 🙂

  1. One for the Cheltenham AP portfolio here:

Calipto in the Stable Plate. Very highly regarded by Venetia Williams and fancied for this race, recently bought from Paul Nicholls. She proclaimed that she fancies him for this race at a preview night.

Has an excellent record in the race and seems to fit last year’s trends profile which I believe was held up by Empire Of Dirt, our triumph of 2016.

Strongly considering going in early at 33’s

    1. Currently has 58 potential runners above him, hence not sure to get a run. Probably sensible to go somewhere that offers NRNB if you do, Ali. Has won after a layoff before but you’d have to be thinking a year off the track is a lot to overcome in one of the top handicaps of the season (and it’s a little close to try and get a run in). That said 10-3 looks like nothing to carry if she has him spot on.

  2. Ben Pauling was very sweet on the future prospects of Le Breuil in a recent interview with the plan being a grade 2 at Kelso on Saturday before hopefully running in one of two engagements at Cheltenham, but is running in a class 4 at Newbury tomorrow (2:40) so should surely be seen as a good thing. At evens its not for me so will take a punt instead on his two engagements at the festival in the hope of an impressive run tomorrow (Neptune 50/1 & Spud race 33/1 NRNB).

One other fancy for tomorrow 3:50 Newb. Millanisi Boy 10/1, down in grade, ran well on chase debut and below last winning hurdle mark. With the rain around at the moment is also likely to have his ground.

  3. just been through the Doncaster card and it looks a bit dire, Bletchley Castle in the 1-50 @9/2 is risky after a 14 month layoff but nothing else pops out and the other races look favourite bound so just a watching day for me there, Newbury is a bit better ,Most Celebrated looks a justifiable fav in the first if they can settle him.
2-40. le bruil and benetar look the ones to beat but First Du Charmil may be worth a little ew @10-1 if 8 stay in the race.
3-15 is very open and i wont be backing
3-50 is quite interesting Behind The Wire is the obvious selection however Kilcullen Flem gets in off a low mark and @7-1 might be worth a nibble.
4-20. Debece can’t be ruled out but the consistant Bendomingo might be better value ew @8-1
4-55 if continuing to progress Wishicould may well be the value ew bet of the day @20-1
5-25. Mary Eleanor may well be something nice and a small wager @3-1 could be in order.
just my thoughts good luck to you all today.

    1. Great shout Martin….I got n at 14s…been out.
pulled back my losses and added a few points.
      Great stuff.

  4. Plato’s Kode – 4.25 Lfld is a first time gelding who won’t have to improve much to take a hand in the finish. Stable in form and Oisin Murphy 1 – 1 riding for them at this course. Money seems to have come for it too.

  5. just one at lingfield
2-00 Skidby Mill 4lb better off ,7lb with jockey claim, for 1.25 length defeat to favourite LTO , CD winner and at 8-1 worth a couple of quid.

    1. GL Martin, I had a look at him when flicking through this morning – with the pace/make all/top speed rating idea through geegeez gold.. suppose I was put off by lack of 3 places, and the fact that George Baker was able to dictate the last day also I think, and still couldn’t beat the fav who he lines up against again here. Credit to the young jock if he can dictate and kick, if gets an easy lead should get a decent run…and getting to a nice price now…
