I will go back through results from 1st Jan I think and keep a proper record of those 20/1+ through to the end of the season… over thinking those too much may not be the way to go either- there has been over 200 points of winners (not profit) priced 20/1+ since the start of the season, (that isn’t BFSP either) (20/1,20/1,25/1,25/1,25/1,33/1,50/1 i think) – I have no idea how many losers there have been in that price range but I would think they are showing a decent profit. The stats in general do find those biggies and for my own bank balance it would be nice to not miss too many, while trying to avoid as many non-ratings pointers losers as possible
Glad to read at least two of you backed the Russell horse. While I didn’t talk anyone out of him, I didn’t mention him or get myself into a place to back him – silly really, given only 3rd start for trainer, ran well 2 starts ago,on his lowest hurdles mark I think, or close enough with claim, conditions fine, and he was 25s with 4 places- you shouldn’t make too many excuses with those sorts. That was only his 16th hurdle run as well, despite his age and Russell was now in better form than she had been. Looked an open enough race also. That’s why those views are subjective. Still, I will take the positives- which is the record of the stats pack finding big priced winners, so I will wait in excitement for the next one, and hope I throw a few pennies at them. I don’t get to upset with missed winners like that, I will miss plenty of losers and profit come the end of the season is the main thing.

Have a great Sunday,

Hi Josh….Pig sick today, but moving on.
I think you’ll find your in profit too. I haven’t kept records either, but a gut feeling tells me they are the ones that pull me back into profit, so if your eliminating any, I’d be scrutinising the bulk rather than the lean.
Just by way of. With races that tend to have high priced winners.
I read yesterday that backing every horse in the Peter Marsh at Haydock since the start of this century put you in with a decent profit. And that is before eliminating the real big prices. I wonder how one could check out similar races….lol.
have more faith in your own stats Josh,,,,,but look closer at the bulk.
Yours is still the only blog worth it’s corn.
BOL and chin up.
Oh chins firmly up on TTP Tony, no long term worries on that front, albeit in an ideal world I would have liked all the profit won since 9th Dec on Ratings Pointers to have been spread out more evenly, but it never goes that way. These stats have won me over 120+ points since Oct I should think, without going to check in depth, backed Hartforth 50s, and that Hammond NHF winner 25s, those kind of winners, like the Russel horse, are the icing on the cake – suppose because it has been a ‘poor’ week on here, it felt more acute at the time! Appears though that the stats are finding one 20/1+ winner every couple of weeks or so roughly, on average.
All good fun, hopefully next week can give us a good end to the month, rating pointers still 12/14 points up for the month I think.
Peter Marsh-yep I did notice that when looking, you could have just backed them all – but that is a rather naff strategy! And would have made you rather poor this year.
Josh
I would be in profit if I’d stuck to win only bets on the ratings pointers, but I keep ‘dabbling’ with EWs, unrated qualifiers, bonus stats, NHF etc, and picking the wrong ones, so I’m about 13 points down since I started on 29th December. Need to be more disciplined!!
Ah damn. But that’s only one winner from profit! Maybe a separate bank from RPS and the rest. I know the feeling of picking the wrong non ratings pointers horses! Backing all the biggies 20/1+ should do fine also. They are finding good priced winners though,so only a matter of time!
