  1. Interested in Manson 3.30 @ Sandown today. Trainer stats are eyecatching although low numbers but when he won over CD in May he was poorly drawn but won readily. That was a C4 and he then ran in a C1 followed by three C2s. Today is C3 and he has been dropped a pound after running not to shoddily at York and at the price he is an EW banker for me

    1. Thanks for posting Tom, in depth reasoning etc like that is always welcome on these pages, wherever they finish! Wont go wrong over time with such an approach. Keep it up.

  2. Hi Josh.
Are there any websites that you know of that provides info regarding front runners, horses and jockeys?

    1. Hi Richard,

I use Geegeez Gold (big blue square banner to the right in the ‘why not try’ bit) Their race cards are the best around from what i have seen, certainly in the context of the price etc. They have a pace section where you can see how the horses have run on their last four starts (led, tracked pace, mid div, held up) so you can get a feel for how the race may be run etc. You can take a 30 day trial of that for £1.

But, it may or may not be for you. Those tools include loads of stats on trainers and jockeys also. But, at the moment they do not include stats for how jockeys ride front runners or hold up types etc. I think they have the capacity to work that out given the data they have at disposal and I expect some development on that front at some point in the future.

In terms of free resources I don’t know. Maybe someone else may know but I don’t think there is anything out there where, at a click of a button, you can see the possible ‘pace make up’ of any given race. Geegeez also now has indicators for where the place to be is historically over that course/distance- ie record of front runners versus hold up types etc etc. Worth checking out I would say, £1 being the maximum damage you will suffer!

Hope that may help to some extent. Via that blue box to the right you can also register as a free user and you can gain access to different parts of their package for free each day, including the race cards for 5 selected races I think. No excuse for not exploring that option also.

  3. Following Crowley at Salisbury was interesting,Backed Fastntet spin 4.45 at 12/1 last night,i was on but crowley wasnt, fashionable spirit 5.20 was disappointing but Shamsaya bolted up at 10/1 20pts on day,one by albeit by accident, well done in highlighting Spangled, had it ew 14/1

    1. Top work Gerry- yep hasn’t been many qualifiers on that Varian angle from memory- need to check the stats but don’t think will go too wrong backing his fillies/mares in listed races over time. Seems to have a knack.
