Members Report: 25/03/16 (COMPLETE)

My judgement of tipping horses that are anywhere around 3/1 or shorter continues to be rather poor. Beating the market was the only minor consolation. It looked good for quite some way, travelling well for the most part before he appeared to hit a flat spot – I am not sure if he is lazy or needs about 5 miles as he stayed on again into 3rd. That was a shocker of a race on paper, so I am sure connections will be disappointed. Maybe I should learn my lesson and avoid venturing to that end of the market for a while – you have to be right an awful lot at that end to make the game pay – and, well, so far this season the odd times I have ‘gone short’ haven’t ended well! Moving on, swiftly.

  1. Josh,i backed that horse twice this season, might have posted on here too as it was well backed on both occasions,he ran worse than poor both times so I said enough enough for now, hard to know if he has just fallen out of love with it

  2. Paddy Brennan took up the ride on Noche De Reyes for Tom George and bloody well won! Well speculated, Ian

I missed this. having an absolute mare this week

    1. yep, made horse a qualifier for the micro angle as well! He was always going to ride it once the other came out. one of those annoying things.

    2. a nice added bonus for me on an otherwise poor day…as Josh says would have been a shock if PB had not ridden it..

  3. Bit annoying indeed as was at work, still must have won close on 50pts following the combo since Tom hit top form over season, had been backing them for year

  4. It is hard to make a profit at short odds. I had the word on The Missus today but struggled to get on a few hundred at 9/4 and had to spread it around quickly. The bookies are wise to these gambles nowadays and it is only that I have 20 accounts I can get on such sums. It really is getting hard and you are best to stick to decent priced selections.

  5. With only AW racing today I’ve had a quick browse of tomorrow’s cards and Basford Ben is entered in the 2.20 at Carlisle over 3m2f. Horse loves the course, in fact won the corresponding race last year off 5lb higher. May prefer slightly slower ground though than the forecast good ground.
Know you’ve backed him a couple of times this year Josh, maybe worth a bet just like your good friend Mission Complete (odds prrmitting)?

    1. Hi Leon…yep, considering I kept saying I will only back him again when he returns to Carlisle over 26f or further, then I should really have a closer look, which I will do. The ground would be a concern but if the odds allow we shall see. Yet to look at race/market.
