2.40 Hunt – Tara Flow (any odds)

TODAY’S STATS/ANGLES

3.40 Hunt – Vinegar Hill – 7/1 – Trainer is 3/8, 5 places with her handicap hurdlers here, clearly not sending many but they usually run their race. In what looks a poor race from an initial glance this one gets cheekpieces for the first time – so at least something has changed from the last run.

4.10 Kemp – DellBuoy – 16/1-25/1 – Trainer is 10/51, 19 places with handicappers over 10f+ here in the winter months. This one gets a tongue tie for the first time and could be worth closer inspection. The trainer has had 8 winners priced 14/1 or over on the AW, from 307 bets, 28 places – so, hard to find!!

That is all on the horses front….

SURVEY/PRIZE DRAW….

I have pulled together a short survey for those of you who read this blog, or even if you don’t. I will be emailing this out on Sunday, but the link is below in the comments if you would like to complete it. It should not take that long at all. There will be a prize draw for those of you who complete it – the prize being a free copy of one of my stats guides – of which winners will have the choice depending if they have bought one or not! This will include an option of having Trainer Track Profiles 2016: FLAT, which I have yet to produce, but will be worth around £37. There will be three winners of this prize, chosen at random.

In essence I haven’t surveyed anyone about the blog yet and it was about time I did. Also, in truth, it may not be sustainable to keep it all completely free moving forwards, and as such I would like your honest views on any subscription element that may be introduced. Part of me expects everyone to say they wouldn’t pay anything, but I thought I would ask!

Please only complete this once. Thanks in advance

  1. Hello there.

Your January trainers system has got off to a good start! Venetia Williams’ runner looks to have a good chance too (at a skinny price). However, I think you ay have missed one:
1 January at Catterick (3.25) – Blake Dean (a Sue Smith hurdler). It finished fourth at SP of 7/2

    1. Hi Matt – you are on the ball! Yes, I should add that into results, and will make sure I do – I didnt miss it as such, I didnt research that angle until the 2nd! But, all saved in HRB now and future qualifiers will be up.

    2. Hi Matt…Yep Tara Flow is a fair favourite, but close to even money is a bit too skinny for my tastes. Another one that maybe worth a second look is Qasser. Its his trainer’s record, especially this season, that catches the eye…his string maybe small but they are definitely firing this season. Here’s the flesh on the bone….

Career NH runners so far reads….

      141 runners/29 winners/190.43 BF_PL/20.6% SR

Looking at his form this season gives figures of…

      48 runners/15 winners/55.6 BF_PL/31.25% SR

and breaking these down a little further…

      Hurdle races: 35 runners/11 winners/48.8 BF_PL/31.4% SR
      Hch races: 22 runners/6 winners/20.58 BF_PL/27.2% SR
      Distance (1m 7 1/2f – 2m 1/2f): 29 runners/9 winners/17.15 BF_PL/31% SR
      Going (Heavy_Soft): 18 runners/7 winners/11.13 BF_PL/38.9% SR
      Jockey (G Sheehan): 16 runners/6 winners/38.4 BF_PL/37.5% SR
      Odds (8/1 or less): 43 runners/14 winners/30.15 BF_PL/32.6% SR
      Lto (top 4 finish): 26 runners/8 winners/14.04 BF_PL/30.1% SR

His SR is only bettered by one NH trainer this season (J Ferguson) and is better than the likes of H Fry, P Hobbs and W Greatrex all top trainers in their own right with much larger talent pools so to speak.

Best of luck with your bets

      Martin

    1. Hi Aaron….the Harry Whittington stats…just an interesting angle for today given Qasser run today. Certainly a trainer to keep an eye on though for the rest of the season.

      Best

      Martin

  2. Venetia Williams sounded very confident beforehand but foiled by an Alan King hurdler that has a touch of class and seemed to really appreciate the conditions (big sized field and a decent pace).

    1. Yep, she bumped into one there!, miles ahead of the rest. Nice for that horse to do that, as a 9yo, decent one on the flat – just goes to shows importance of those race conditions – relished the ground as well – to certain horses.

  3. was a good day for the 2 profitable trainers at Huntingdon.Clemency was a bit skinny after the withdrawal but Drumacoo was a massive price at 12/1,I thought here we go when it drifted alarmingly from 13/2 last night, but that’s what happens sometimes.Tara flow was apparently a shoo in but I would assume no one on here would have backed it
