In general I am fairly happy with how my bets ran yesterday. We got a run for our money from all of them to a point and with a bit more luck could have made a small profit. Art Mauresque lost out on a place in a head bob and Back Thunder tried to take the second last with him when looking like he could have ran into the places. But, that is racing. If getting 25s on Double Ross, a -0.75 point loss over the two races. SS for Hobbs looks a serious horse, and clearly that PU lto wasn’t an indication of anything serious. He looks to have a great attitude and along with Jonjo’s horse in second look like stayers to keep on the right side of, given their profiles.
Anyway, no tips or previews etc today.
A word of caution, which I have touch on a few times, about the state of the Pipe yard. All of his fancied runners travelled well before seeming to cut out quickly at various stages – either something wrong in yard or they were not as fit as they expected. But, his runners should be treated with caution until signs of more life – of course he may have a nice winner today, we shall see.
Any followers of the Jumps Handicappers hopefully had a nibble at the Oliver runner who received a wonder ride for me to win 7/1>5/1.

Not one so much as placed. What would you call a bad day?
‘Fairly’ happy Ian, would have been much happier if one of them had won. But, they are not the easiest races to consistently find winners in, but over time the aim is to make a decent profit. Backing horses at 12/1 / 20/1 etc in races such as that means backing plenty of losers, but you dont need many winners over time to do ok.
A bad day? Well if everyone had dropped out the back of the tv, if none of them ever looked like getting competitive and I had lost 8 points across both races, and not 0.75. That is what I would have called a bad day. While none looked like winning after jumping the last, with a bit more luck they could have made +8-10 points on the day. AM just got nabbed for a place, Black Thunder looked liked to run a big race, Perfect Candidate ran a cracker and just finished out of the places.
Depends what you want from your betting I suppose, we are all different. If you want bucket loads of winners, this blog, nor my approach will be for you. If you want to have some fun, hopefully be entertained and make profits over time, then you may enjoy reading. But, you can judge my results over time, and go from there.
I have backed bouvereuil 2.40 chelt like the way it run at the festival earlier in the year in open race with proven c/d form worth an ew and regal flow 1.50 fontwell could be a good bet at 8/1 with trainer good course form and t/j combo doing well
There is usually some small print about past performance not being an indication of future returns after the blather in investment ads.same can be said for stat based betting.Looks like something amiss with pipe yard,watching brief,when its turned around,a winner here a double there you can be in on the value again,remember jonjos yard last year and hendersons the year before.with these festivals you either coin it in or have a blank
