No Bet again today as I am struggling to find anything of note, so another day off. What with bog like conditions, small fields, poor quality racing and no meaningful ‘ways in’ that I can find, it is best to sit this one out I think. There is also the possibility of numerous non runner and more rain.
Ayr of Elegance caught the eye in the 4.15 Brighton. The trainer is 5/18, 11 places with his handicappers here. Two short priced non runners have reduced his price to 5/1 – the big question is the going. I simply have no idea if he will handle it. He looks the most interesting runner in the race – unexposed with some ok form already. If he handles the ground I doubt he will be too far away, but I am guessing.
Ed Dunlop doesn’t have too many 2yo first time out winners but he is 2/9, 3 places at Newbury with such runners. He has Opposition 10/1 in the 4.40 and it will be interesting how he goes. Lots of guessing again though.

Bitter sweet yesterday Josh – great win for Tancred but at the expense of the Daily Double pair.
Top detective work – well done.
Hi Josh….after trawling through the cards last night with the help of HRB I couldn’t agree more….miserable days racing (Mondayesque), with soft/heavy ground and probably quite a few NR runners that will come out. No point betting for the sake of it.

The sort of day which is perfect bookmaker fodder…. truly dreadful day.
Lucy the Painter should be ok on the ground but Makin looks on easy street to me and heading for a happy retirement!
Couple of interest to me but nothing more – although i am on the Ballinrobe horse at 7s

Trainer Richard Price’s handicappers have been profitable to follow at the track in the past two years. His record with runners 10/1 & under in the betting is 7 wins / 22 bets 31.82% +10.58 A/E 1.55 and when combining with claiming jockey Tom Marquand 5 wins / 9 bets 55.56% +10.2 A/E 2.1.
They combine with two today in Distant High (3:00) and Bonjour Steve (4:00) both course winners look to have good chances in their respective races. Of the two on the ground I prefer Bonjour Steve who is 2-8 (7 places) at the course and 1-3 over C&D. He is 2-4 on soft going although unplaced on his only start on heavy!
4:00 – Bonjour Steve –
Ballinrobe
Trainer Norman Lee isn’t one of the biggest trainers in Ireland but he has a good record with the handicappers he runs at Ballinrobe. In the past five years he is 4 wins/10 bets (8 places) 40% +22.50 A/E 4.08. He hasn’t made life easy today as he send three handicappers to the track
5:30 – Blackandamber Vic last time out course winner who has won on the forecast soft ground
6:00 – Olar – Off the track 550 days! The market may prove informative on this ones chance but a long lay off isn’t a handicap to a horses chance as you know. Does make his stable debut today.
7:30 – Survival – C & D winner but both of his wins have come on good to firm!
I might have gone for the wrong one here but on the balance of probabilities suggests his most likely chance of continuing his good run at the track is with the mare Blackandamber Vic. The market suggests it is as the early 7/1 has long gone.
5:30 – Blackandamber Vic
Good luck to all having a bet I think you will need it.
