Can Exclusive Waters win again?

While trawling through my usual tools one stats caught my eye today and that was the form of Tracy Waggot and Robert Winston when they team up in handicaps at Newcastle. Indeed since 2009 they are 14 bets / 5 wins / 8 places / +24 SP.

Therefore my eye was drawn to their one runner today…Exclusive Waters in the 5.40 Newcastle.

Now this is a poor class 5 handicap but at least we have a ‘way in’. Two starts ago he won really well here in a C6 (although race not working out terribly well) and clearly loves the track – 2/3 over 8-10f here, including one at C5. The horse is 2/4 under Robert Winston and only acts on Good to Firm it would appear 2/7 (o/11 all other). The concern is that he is 8lb higher from his last win, but as a 5yo, and on only his 11th start in flat handicaps for this trainer I want to see more evidence that this will stop him – a poor performance today and it may then be possible to say he needs to come down. But, he likes the track and distance, gets on with the jockey and the trainer/jockey combo is worth keeping onside here.

He was 11/1 last night and I had 1/2 point on EW to find out. (wont count towards blog total)

There are a few unexposed types in here that could improve for the distance but he is one of a few that have been here and done it, have proven course form and stamina. Fingers crossed I get a decent run for my money. Either way, that is a trainer/jockey combo to keep onside here when they team up in handicaps.

Right, much like with Worcester I am off to see if I can find any decent stats for Cartmel which I will email out asap.
