Some Aintree Notes

I am off to the races this evening and have had a quick look through the Aintree card. I haven’t had time to look at much in depth so take it with a pinch of salt.

Firstly – Willbeme runs in the 4.10 York – I/We backed her last time at 14/1 EW when she came third in  a race that couldnt be working out any better. The step up to 6 looks ideal. I backed her last night at 5/1 and she is now 3/1, hopefully she can go a couple of places better today. I haven’t looked at the opposition mind.

Aintree

I do like testing my ‘paddock’ eye when I go the races and am only betting for fun. So in general I will have a good look and see if anything really stands out…

R1 – No strong opinions. Cowslip interests me. Peter Bowen is 0/5, 0 places with his Handicap debutants here so interesting to see who the fav gets on. His overall record with Handicap Debutants is good however.

R2 – Nabucco runs for a trainer who has a decent SR with his new recruits to jumping (7/22 in last year) but he is 1/35 at the track. Dare to Achieve is the other one who is interesting of the unraced horses. Maybe I will go with which one looks best to my untrained eye.

R3 – The best race of the night for me. Hopefully Sedgemoor Express prevails (i backed him last time) and Ballyben could give him most to do although it looks quite an open race. I was hoping to have time to go through it properly but haven’t.

R4 – No views. Tim Vaughan has been in very good form so I will be keeping an eye on all of his runners. Dovils Date goes for him here

R5 – Falcarragh runs for Vaughan and Johnson who are 4/5 in the last 2 weeks. Despite the small field it looks competitive.

R6 – Todhunter is 4/19, 6 places with his stable debutants  in last two years so Olympiad catches the eye as a small EW bet.

R7 – no real idea! Whatdoesthefoxsay/Double Silver maybe

Historically I haven’t done too well at Aintree at meetings such as this as they can appear to throw up some strange results. We shall see if I have any luck today.
