Pace Wins The Race: No Bet 05/01/15

Hello and a very Happy New Year.

Here is to what I expect will be a very profitable year on the blog 🙂

I dont like setting targets for profit but I would be disappointed if the free content on the blog didnt make at least 150 points profit over the next 12 months.

05/01/15 NO BET

Anyway…In what is a quiet start to 2015 there will be NO PACE selections for Monday 05/01/15. I have been through the cards and I cannot make a strong enough case for anything. There are a few horses that interest me and I have detailed these below.

1.40 Iconic Rose… This horse beat a PACE selection last time out over hurdles and was very impressive. The ground is an unknown and this is her jumping debut. They are not wasting any time in sending her jumping and if she has a clear round, and handles the ground, i think she will win. They are two pretty big ifs hence why she isnt a bet this time

2.00 Muss Urban Code… this horse is in the tracker as he is an out and out front runner who has returned from quite a long break. There is a lot of pace in this race however and he hasnt shown much in his two runs yet this season. The trainer is now hitting some form and I am interested how he goes at a price. I will be keeping an eye on him for the future.

2.30 Muss Quest Magic… another who interests me. He has been a front runner over shorter and despite being a 9yo this is only his 7th run. His breeding would suggest that this trip should suit. Given I think he will be decent odds I may throw 1/2 a point at him. As he is being stepped up they may now drop him in but with no other pace in the race that I can see I hope they send him forward. All in all there are a few too many unknowns to make him a ‘tip’ and there are a few other unexposed horses in this as well.

3.50 Cascadia… This was a selection at Southwell the other day when the card was called off. I was fairly confident that day and it looks like he will be the only front runner again. The race conditions are fine and has a lot in his favour in what is a very poor race. His in and out form at Wolvs is a concern and he has had an easy lead at the course the last few occasions and has been caught. Given the odds will be fairly short I am happy to leave alone although a bold show wouldnt be a surprise.

Hopefully we have a bet on Tuesday.

P.S I should add that if you are on Twitter you can follow me … @Josh_HW … I ‘tipped’ up ITOLDYOU for the Sussex National at 14/1, unfortunately by the time I had woken up and looked at the race I didnt have time to write a preview etc. While I dont ‘tip’ much on Twitter I will occasionally mention horses I am backing, especially when I dont have time to post. While twitter is full of idiots it is useful for following various people in racing/courses/going reports etc etc.

  1. Happy new year Josh-I’ve missed not reading the posts over the new Year-so good to have u back.
A watching brief today-will be Interesting to see how they go…

    1. Cheers Mick… yes a watching brief, solid reasons for opposing all of them and if I backed these types of horses, with the questions they have, consistently over time I wouldnt win very much! Although I have had a few fun and ‘interest’ bets so we shall see, but best to keep money in pocket i think!

  2. happy new year josh. indeed here is to a profitable 2015 with your blogs and of course the geegeez race cards i know it will be a good one

    1. cheers Rob…indeed with geegeez package, and I should add HorseRaceBase (only 2 tools i use) if you are a value punter and have your head screwed on it is quite hard to lose money in truth! Proof will be in the eating as they say
