Pace Wins The Race: Selection 15/12/14

Monday’s aren’t known for their high quality racing and tomorrow/today is no different. However, I think JW Mullins has found a weak race in which Brunettesonly has a decent chance. She has front run on her last two starts and has done so in the past. Given there are no other front runners in the field I expect Andrew Thornton to send her to the front and use her guaranteed stamina to good effect. She is handicapped to win, has won at the course, in soft and heavy and over half a furlong further. What’s more she has the most solid profile in the race.

Brantingham Breeze has yest to win a race and I will always take this sort on. I only like backing horses who I am confident want to win and so far after 11 races he has yet to get his head in front. Banks Road has had ten tries and has yet to win and also returns after a lengthy break. You would think these horses will find a race somewhere but I am always happy to take this type of runner on.

That leaves Sweet Boy Vic who won a joke of a race last time out. I remember watching the 3 runners crawl around the track before Tom Cannon stole some lengths turning for home and effectively put the race to bed against rivals who clearly didn’t posses a change of gear in the run in. Before that there were real stamina doubts and I want this horse to prove he stays in a truly run race. Brunettesonly will make this a test tomorrow and he will need to stay. His form before that race was mediocre at best.

So, in what is a generally poor day’s racing I think we have a live chance here who, on all known form on paper, should be favourite. 5/2 is fair enough and I she will at least give us a good run for out money.
