Well after losing about 5/6 points at Aintree (I hope some of you took the advice that if we were chasing come the last race to put 1 point on the two in the bumper horses, as we were rewarded with a 14/1 winner) On twitter I have got back about 3 points with Fentara winning well,as well as losing about 1 point with yesterday’s selections. Anyway, we are comfortably ahead since the blog started, still riding a wave from the 45 points made at Cheltenham.
There is no point dwelling on the past as we move onto a very competitive Scottish National
Lie Forrit 1/2 point EW 20/1 (Bet365 5 places all bets)
Alpha Victor 1/2 point EW 25/1
Mister Marker 1/2 point EW 28/1
I will not over analyse these selections, mainly as I am off out! You want a horse that finished top 6 last time out, aged 7-11, a horse to have won over 3 miles and importantly a horse that races up with the pace. Hold up horses have a shocking record in this race. That put me of Roclco De Farges, who otherwise has a very strong chance. These 3 all have a chance, they stay, will race handy and should give a great run for our money. Mister Marker was 3rd in this last year, and to me looks like he has been laid out for the race. There has been some rain around this morning which will help his chances and I cant see why he is so big in price. Alpha Victor does occasionally have a mental block and refuses to jump the first! so there is a risk, but if he jumps off, gets in a rhythm, he will stay, and should be competitive. Lie Forrit has a lot in his favour and should give a bold showing.
This is an open and competitive race, where lots can be given chances. If two of the above just placed it would be a good profit on the race, hopefully one can take the prize.
There is not much else that interests me today. There is a good card at Newbury but I want to wait until a few more horses have had their first runs before diving into the flat.
