On Trend was running well but appeared to weaken quickly/lose interest as they turned for home. He doesn’t look like he fancies the game much at the moment and i thought he had a lot in his favour. We move onto today…
1.15 Newbury
Shaking Hands…This is not a race to get overly involved in, but i thought he was just a bit too big at 9/1 and worth a small interest. If he gets a lead, and he is in the mood, he could gallop these rivals into the ground. The only horse proven at the trip and ground combined, he could run a big race. He could also lose interest and be pulled up again though!
1.30 Chepstow
I have backed UGLY BUG. I got 16/1 yesterday and has been backed into 10/1. He ran well on seasonal reappearance before fading quickly. The ground and the trip will be fine and I find it interesting that the seasonal reappearance was at this track. He was a good EW bet at 16/1, maybe not so now at 10s.
2.35 Chepstow
The Welsh National looks as tricky as ever. I like to use trends to narrow down the field and the two that i came up with were Mountainous 20/1 and Red Rocco 33/1. I have backed both EW with preference for Mountainous. The trip is an unknown for a lot of these but he should stay. Mountainous is a course winner which is a plus and will relish the ground. Red Rocco ran a good race on his seasonal reappearance and looks like a plodder to me. While he may not win, if he is in the top 5 i will be more than happy. As ever it is a tough and competitive race and will be a right slog.
Good Luck
