Well and OK boxing day. It was nice to get the winner of the big race. SC with his proven stamina ran down cue card. But for a couple of horrendous errors, the final one ending in a fall, i think Long Run would have placed. But a great race. The Gold Cup gets more intriguing by the week. Cape Tribulation ran well to finish 3rd but never looked like catching the impressive winner
anyway, onto today and there is only one race i am interested in, the 3.05 Kempton
Many of these have to prove a liking for the distance under rules, the going, and to a lesser extent the class. The one that catches the eye is ON TREND who is too big at 14/1!
He is 5 lbs below his last winning mark where he romped home in a class 2 3m 1 furlong race on heavy ground at Sandown. He has not had testing ground since, and i am taking a chance that it revives him. His last race wasn’t great and connections have gone for cheekpieces. He races close to the pace, and may lead, which is also promising at this course, if yesterdays races are anything to go by. he seems to prefer going right handed, and running in races with less than 11 runners. I am quietly optimistic!
I will also be backing Merrion Square as a cover bet. He had solid form in the book. The rest have serious questions to answer, and whilst a few are young and improving, i will stick with these two.
Good Luck
Josh
