I have tried to be a bit more focused with the ‘monthly’ trainers for March. We have two to go to war with, one over the sticks and one on the sand. If they both perform to their average over the last 5 years, we should have plenty of fun and they may help pay for Cheltenham 🙂Â
Let’s get to it… (trainers’ records in March..)
Alan Bailey
- All-Weather HANDICAPS
- 4yo+ only handicaps
- Any Odd

Not much to say with this one, bar the usual point which is that his record in March with this type of runner is far superior to other months – suggesting that he may well target this month, or at least have his string at peak fitness. We shall see if he can do the same this year. All winners 16/1 or shorter but he has only had one qualifier above this price. Not too many runners but usually a few winners to cheer.Â
He has only had one runner in 3yo+ handicaps and in 3yo only handicaps is 2/17, 5 places, -6 SP, AE 0/54. Small numbers I know but happy to just stick with his handicappers in 4yo+ handicaps for now.Â

2. Nicky Henderson

The master of Seven Barrows usually has his hurdlers in fine fettle at this time of year and let’s hope he does again this year. I have excluded the Festival – as I did when researching this angle – just because of its unique nature and how it can skew the figures etc – its a tough place for all trainers to get winners. The last 3 years in particular have been rather impressive. The market has been a decent guide – those with an SP above 12/1 are now 0/26, 1 place. He has had 3 12/1 winners so clearly some monitoring may be needed, or there will be times if you are busy etc where you may want to take 14s or something in the hope they get backed a bit! By taking opening show odds you would have made +41 points above SP, and +21 above BFSP (not including deductions for commission)

That is all for this months ‘Monthly Trainers’. If they could win us 20 points between then that would be nice! As with all ‘Monthly Trainers, potential qualifiers will be posted in the daily members reports.Â
Good Luck
