I will pull together the Jumps advised strategies document on Monday. The Jumps ES are currently -3 and there a no current strategies around the ratings pointers. (red symbols) The main winter jumps strategy relies on Geegeez Speed ratings which have the summer off over sticks, and there is also the 10/1-25/1 strategy, which doesn’t cover any of those quals above today.

That’s the lot for today. GL with any bets.

  • Quite like the look of the ES jumps qualifier Trafalgar. TJC had a nice double yesterday and also another double a few days earlier. The horse is only on its 3rd Chase start, hasn’t shown a lot so far but could improve

    • Yep he looks good I think James, and in the context of this race/no. of runners, 7/2 probably just ok… like the fact Newland didn’t keep him over hurdles for long, suggests earmarked as a potential chaser early enough… the last run was a bit poor but it was after more than a month after the run before that – maybe a hold up in his prep. Runs now 18 days after the last run which is more of a positive I think. And he now also gets CP, so doing something different. Lightly raced, more to come over fences at some point, all the stats pointers, trainer in red hot form etc. I can see why your eyes would be drawn to have a nibble! Competitive little race but you would like to see him thereabouts. The rest are def too short for me personally but hopefully they all dot up!

      • Well that was over after 2 fences..and shows the importance of jumping in chases.. whether headgear has had a negative effect or going RH- but he put on breaks before going into every fence, lost many lengths each jump. Game over. One not to give up on but maybe should try LH and that headgear may be swapped/removed. Best put a line through that one.

        • Always the risk with these unexposed types! Was nicely backed in so was feeling confident but not to be this time. I’m sure the dr will work his magic and get it right with it at some point

          • Yep, and where there is increased risk, you want a decent price… 7/2 was ok I think, just, given ES, ratings, profile etc and we beat the market, which is at least always a small positive. Something has affected his jumping there, unless he needs plenty of intensive schooling or would prefer going back over hurdles! We shall see, still a few weak summer races left no doubt.
